please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Good first impressions. Small, quiet and cosy. Beers were Bombardier and Hepworth's Prospect, which was new to me and not bad at all. A bit expensive at 3.65 but it seems that Brighton now counts as London for pub prices. (and much else) Two draught ciders (Thatcher's) on the other pumps. Nice barmaid. Happy to go back next time I'm down here

Apparently under new management. Shame as this a nice bar but the staff really need a lesson in customer service!

When we asked, nicely, why a round of 4 drinks came to over 16 we were told that we clearly didn't know Brighton (lived here for over 16 years) as it was one of the cheapest pars in the town.

The woman turned her back and said she was too busy to discuss it any further - as she carried on cleaning glasses. Her colleague did her best to explain later but the damage was done.

A decent spot but a major staff attitude problem. We won't be back.

Not bad, not good either. As straightforward a pub as you are likely to find. Turn up, drink, leave. Could be a bit cleaner.

People complaining about cleaning when criticising always make me chuckle.

Why do some people make note of it as though they have superior knowledge than that of others. It is as though they have spotted something that mere mortals cannot see and have privilege to an invisible moral/aesthetic highground. In truth, they are not qualified, in any way, to comment.

Surely, if you like the place, why not approach the management and make them aware of your thoughts? This would be far more constructive than hiding behind a keyboard. If this site is your preferred way of contact, why not ask the management online?

I look forward to your reply.

Quite pleasantly surprised about this pub - I wasn't expecting much considering the location in the shopping centre, but it's not a bad little boozer. Good selection of ales and a friendly atmosphere, but a little grubby if you look too closely.

Friendly staff - might want to think about giving it a clean, might give them bit of a break from their tag - smoking marathon! Now 3 years without a break - well done!

By far the best pub in the area, friendly knowledgeable bar staff and a great pint of ale. Great atmosphere both during the day and of an evening. Will definately be there in the near future..

Good beer and great staff. Best in this area of town which has a dearth of good pubs...makes this an oasis.

I blow hot and cold about this pub, but it's on an upward trend at the moment. More beers than before - Harveys, HSB, Youngs and Spitfire - and all in good nick. The barstaff are generally OK; the little minx who charged me 3 for a pint of Harveys has moved on, thank goodness, so I'm going there more often now! Definitely worth a visit.

Don't get to visit this place as often as I'd like, to be honest. Very friendly atmosphere, cracking bar staff, good beers. Not tried the food so unable to comment but the last time I was there the bloke next to me at the bar had what looked like a verrrrrrrrrry tasty sandwich!

Friendly staff and a fine selection of spirits and ales. Convinent for a lunch time drink but stay well away from the food and wine, except for the sandwhiches!

"Old-man-type" pub to look at, but a youngish mixed crowd and a good range of drinks. Friendly staff. Good overall.

yep good, cool nice beer.

Lovely old-man-type pub in the middle of Brighton. The orange juice was poured from a tap though, it was a bit like orange flavoured water! But they had a good selection of beers and spirits

Lovely little pub, just off a main shopping road (Western Road). Wicked bar staff and quality spirits, the likes of which you've never seen before!
