This is an Ex- Whitbread house, you can tell by the signage and interior. Bit of a nothing pub really. what would have been a Lounge Bar now serves as a restaurant area and the Bar is dominated by TV screens. There is a bit of an outside area as well. They were serving two offerings from Ringwood (read - Marstons/Wolverhampton and Dudley) and the obligatory Doom Bar (that stuff really is bland!). I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again.

Agree with Bitter Man. Was there the week before last, and it was okay. Nice selection of local beers and friendly service. Definitely worth a visit.

Made a return visit yesterday, Ringwood Best Bitter was a reasonable pint but not the best in the area. One of the few remaining pubs that has a separate Public & lounge Bars. Both bars w very busy, the Public Bar has a Pool Table TV and limited seating/Tables. one word of caution if busy and you are standing at certain points at the Bar you might be asked to move by the Pool Players or lrisk being prodded by a cue! the lounge bar is used for more of a restaurant and was very busy on this occasion with families who were all seemed to be eating. The food looked very nice and smelt great. If in Brocenhurst worth a visit.

Was in Brockenhurst for the weekend and tried here, Snakecatcher and Rose & Crown. Beer was good but not excellent and around 3.50 like the other two I visited. Busy garden maybe due to loud rap music being played inside. All OK but not outstanding.

Good ale (49er) and a good atmosphere - seems to be a locals' pub which means it does a good trade and there's a buzz about it. Food looked good.

Attractive pub near station. Young, friendly staff. Reasonably priced meals served within 5 minutes. I enjoyed Ringwood 49er. Ringwood Best and London Pride available. Music not too intrusive.

Visited here twice over the weekend while in the area. Reasonable pint of Ringwood Best Bitter, but not the best I had by a long way (Hare & Hounds in Sway beats it by a mile). Nice atmoshere in this but which has two bars and low beames ceilings. Seems to do a good food trade. This pub is very handy as it is opposite an excellent Chinese and is good for a Pree dinner drink or a place to have a beer whilst waiting for your Take Away. Limited parking (but loads nearby) and a small garden. The other beers available were Ringwood 49ER and London Pride. Recommended

Why do people ask questions they don't want to know the answers to? When I was last in the Foresters I ordered good old fashioned pub grub namely ham egg and chips. A dish you would think almost impossible to spoil. Well you can if the eggs are solid and you double fry the chips left over from lunchtime. I'm not a complainer but when i was paying the bill I was asked 'did I enjoy the meal?' so I said was the question a mere formality or did they really want to know? Yes they did so I told them. Response complete denial. Apparently I should have specified I wanted my eggs molten and chips were perfect. Why do they bother to ask?

Good atmosphere on a Saturday night, usually packed, with friendly efficient staff. A village PUB in the truest sense, hen nights, local regulars, etc. Beer is always good although didnt try the food during our annual visit this year. Not the best pub on the planet but well worth a visit.

Use this place when im out biking in the new forest. Food and Beer ok. Recommend it for a couple of beers on the way through.

We had drink and some soup here - the London Pride was well poured and tasted just as it should, the soup was tasty and the accompanying bread plus salad was great. Good value, pity the bar service was a bit slow when we visited, there appeared to be only one guy serving two bars and taking the food orders. Will be back next time I'm in the area and hungry/thirsty.

Wicked pub, best in Brockenhurst was my local for 3 years! Food is good you can take your dog anywhere they also have water out for them in the summer. Drinks wise they have Stella, Heineken, Carling, 49er, Thatchers Gold (Cider) the wines have recently all been changed along with the Landlords so they now no longer support Fulhum or Sunderland ^^

This pub does GORGEOUS food of massive quantity and the chips are just AMAZING! They are like fish and chip shop chips - but nicer! For the price, I HIGHLY recommend eating there. Also, they allow dogs (yes, even in the restaurant area) which is always a plus point for me!! The people in there are friendly, but if you go in the bar area, it's a little 'clicky'.

Been here a few times and the Aussies who run it do a great job even though they support Fulham.Ringwood 49er is the best beer for me at 5% much better than the ordinary bitter made by Ringwoods.Trouble is they charge London prices but the food is good and not overly priced and my dog is allowed in to which is great.I like the place .

Definitely the best in Brockenhurst. Very friendly staff, lovely cosy atmosphere, time just seems to drift away from you in here!
Highly recommended.

Can report that I had a very pleasant visit to The Foresters this Saturday. Whilst on a cycling weekend in the New Forest we were caught out in a rain storn and decided to see it out in the Foresters. Can support the comments of the friendly bar staff who were more that acoomodating to six soggy bikers who burst into the public bar. Firstly , as well as the usual Ringwoods for this area, they also had Fullers London Pride ! and it had travelled well. Secondly the public bar has everything you want of a public bar, small screens for the footy, a quiz machine, a cracking juke box with plenty of tunes for rock heads and the afore mentioned pool table (although the red baise with blue and yellow balls took a bit of getting used to.). And thirdly a very comfortable lounge at the back with a wide and varied food menue which we decided to try as it was still raining an hour after we entered. Can report that all the meals we had were up to scratch, especially the steak and kidney pudding.
Now they may put the prices up for the high season, but our experience in mid November was that it was not unduly expensive. If you want to experience unduly expensive , try drinking Pride in Central London..

A very pleasant pub with plenty of seating outside in two beer garden areas.

Very good food and well kept ales. Just round the corner from the railway station and well worth a visit.

Grea tbeer (Ringwood fortyniner always excellent). Good food, and a pool table to boot! Sadly it suffers the common problem of new forest overpricing, but its certainly the best pub locally.

I go walking in The New Forest a lot and nearly always end up in this pub. Must be the best pub in The Forest. Great beer and reasonably priced food which is excellent and good value for money. Great friendly bar staff who always make me feel welcome. Also a good place to stop off in while waiting for a train from the nearby station. I have missed many a train back home to Bournemouth as I love the place and cannot seem to get away from it!!

Spend a week in brockenhurst camping recently and this was by far the best pub on offer. Friendly staff and always busy with a good atmosphere. The food was good as well. As for prices it seemed to be typical southern prices - struggle to get 2 pints out of a fiver.
race_faster - 12 Sep 2006 14:40
I didn't think it was unduly expensive by the standards of London and the SE.

Nice country pub with Ringwood beers, just a stonethrow from the railway station, clearly popular with the locals who.

Nice little place. Good pub grub.
Just finished a 5 mile walk so was desperate for a drink!
Shows cricket, which is always a bonus.

This is the best pub in Brockenhurst very friendly and always a good atmosphere, they have a pool table & darts in the sports bar side, along with 2 TV's (sky)and the juke box has good music. The food is excellent and good value for money, you can eat in the dining side or in the sports bar the patio is nice when the weather holds up and there is more seating at the other end of the car park 20 paces away. For where the pub is situated (in the new national park) the drink prices are reasonable no diffrent to the pubs I have been to in Buckinghamshire.
whitegoldice - 16 Apr 2005 19:28
Like most pubs in the area - the beer is quite expensive but not suprisingly so.

This one appeared to be the busiest pub in Brockenhurst on a Friday night. Popular with food but also has a separate bar for pool etc...
juniormont - 24 Feb 2005 10:28
We went camping to Brockenhurst and found the foresters' locals friendly and nice, the food was good however drinks slightly overpriced. Overall a brilliant pub and we would recommend anyone in the area to visit.

Walked in here on a cold winters day once and the smell of good food just hits you. Great, homely place.

On my return from london on a 4 hour journey it was a breath of fresh air to walk into the forester arms. the staff and the locals made me feel welcome. i then had the finest steak and chips i have ever had.

I recently visited the Foresters arms during a very busy bank holiday weekend. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and well presented. It was a lively pub and seemed to be enjoyed by both locals and tourists alike.
