This is a dreadful place to go! The staff are the rudest I have come across in the London area which is sayng something. I was told that I was being rude by asking if I could eat in the restuarant. All in all a terrible experience. Totally agree with 2nd of July 2007.

New management who know what they are doing and have a menu to match the ambiance they have created. The wine list is interesting and reasonably priced and food is first class. A great place to relax and enjoy views over the green and meet people,

Under new ownership now, with a change of name (sic) to Le Bar du Vin. Early days yet but a nice atmosphere starting to develop. A french theme which looks likely to do well. My visits so far, have been very pleasant, and the menu is simple, wine list good.I use often and saw Anonymous-2 July 2007 and his family looking at the new place the other day.Was he looking to do another "runner" without paying his bill? Watch out new owners! You do not need his sort!

impressive wine list and staff that make it a plesant night no matter what day or evening you visit. Food is plain but that is not a bad thing and quality is good. a friendly local with a twist

Great place to go for a drink, a bite to eat and a chat.Great view over the Green.Anonymous-2 Jul 2007 12.41 should go elsewhere. Many people including myself watched their abysmal behaviour last Friday evening. The staff were brilliant in the face of provocation.
goodevans69 - 6 Jul 2007 08:29
A friendly place to go, good food and wine, always a smile from the staff.Maybe Anonymous-2 July should find somewhere else to run away from without paying his bill !

Although the Wine Bar is sporting a 'new improved' menu WITH a children's selection and the staff are helpful and friendly...

...BE WARNED...

THIS IS NOT A FRIENDLY PLACE TO GO... We left in disbelief early Friday evening after a barrage of verbal abuse from the owner no less.

We were sat outside having a glass of wine minding our own business while our 10 week old daughter slept in her pram when we were asked to move by the staff because the pram was blocking the enterance to the flats upstairs. A simple enough request you would think, apart from it wasn't the pram blocking the enterance it was the chairs that customers were sat on. We were assisting the staff when the owner butted in, and then when questioned whether the chairs would be moved he began to abuse us with statements like 'are you f***ing stupid or something' and 'I don't want your sort here anyway'.

It was clear to us that it wasn't that anything to do with blocking access to the flats, it was the simple fact this our pram did not fit in with this rude obnoxious man's image that the bar should be portraying.

I find it rather confusing that you can promote a childrens menu and then make families feel so unwelcome. My advise is DO NOT VISIT THE WINE BAR and line this mans pockets, especially if you are thinking of taking children for a meal, you are not welcome.

I like this place. You can go during the day and grab a coffee and sit on the sofas or you can go in the evening and either eat or grab a drink with friends.

I probably should keep this quiet so that it doesn't get invaded, but I like it so it deserves a good review.

A very enjoyable Xmas party last week, (good food, pleasant staff) spoilt only by the new manageress who needs to change her attitude.

Wickipedia

"Tapas are small quantities of food sold (or given for free) with a drink in Spain"

Not for 6 a dish on Twickenham Green.

Very nice decor, been redecorated very nicely - (Shame they saved on the loos.. very basic mdf!)

Food is fantastic - but each time I have been the waitresses don't seem to know what is and is not on the menu and too many mistakes made.

Tapas menu isn't as varied as it used to be but still nice. - More pricey than it used to be but the food is very good.

I love this place, it is always open when you want it to be due to the late license. The wine list is huge and reasonably priced.
I to have visited the Gourment Evening you get 5 courses with 5 types of wine preceeded by a champers and canape reception - all for the bargain price of 50, if you like good food and good wine then you need to go to a Gourmet Evening - Looking forward to the next one in September.
The new staff are good but not as good as the old lot.
Great place though

Not bad, would be a boring way to spend an evening but with all this blistering sunshine and the Green over the road; it is a good place to waste an afternoon. I was drinking a beer when a cricket ball bounced over the road and into my left foot. Next thing I know a fielder runs across the road and gets clipped by a woman in a Ford Cortina sending him flying into my right leg. So maybe its not as boring a I first thought.

what happened to this place? where did all the staff go? went here the other day and the place was not as good as it used to be.
anonymous - 3 Jul 2006 12:20
Having recently visited the wine bar, i was impressed by the extensive cocktail menu and witty and handsome bar manager - his product knowledge was excellent and his humour was amusing!

All the staff were excellent and food and drink delicious! Will definatley be returning as the special offers sound appealing and i cannot wait to visit during the summer and enjoy the nice weather outside by the green. Roll on Summer 2006!

Very nice atmosphere, food is great staff are very polite, highly recommended.

I went to the 'Gourmet' evening last night, a good idea to brighen up what's normally a quiet Monday evening when not much is happening.

Sampled some of the most delectable wines with a heavenly 5 course dinner which made me feel totally spoiled. The service was top notch, as ever the staff were very friendly and efficient. From what I understand this was their first Gourmet function and would strongly recomend it. I hope they do this again as it wasn't completely full, however have a feeling I may have reaped the benefits as the portion sizes were very generous indeed!
Twickersbornandbred - 28 Mar 2006 17:35
I also think some of these reviewers are competitors..the service is excellent especially the young tall guy with blondish hair who always seems to be there and is always chirpy, doesn't he have a home to go to!
The deserts are scrummy and I like the idea of the wine club nights!
Lady - 28 Mar 2006 13:11
I make a point of going to the Wine Bar most weekends as it's open till 1.00am. Very handy indeed. It tends to get busier after the other pubs shut and it's a really nice, friendly crowd that comes in. The wine list is great and the new decor is excellent. Definitely one of my favourites local bar. Recommended!

We went to the Wine Bar's launch party and had a wonderful night! The food was amazing and the desserts stole the show for me! Will definately be going back again.
anonymous - 26 Jan 2006 14:13
Poor Mr Goldsmith seems as though he went to the wrong Bar.
The Wine Bar has a NO-SMOKING policy and as a non smoker it was appreciated.
The Staff are fantastic and the food wonderful.Maybe Mr Goldsmith works for a competitor????
goodevans69 - 25 Jan 2006 12:13
We went to the new wine bar last night - wished we stayed in and washed our hair - sore throat, roll-on the ban. food was not good - but cheap (which means poor)
richardgoldsmith - 22 Jan 2006 00:55
What a waste of time and effort... This place should re-name itself the smoke filled wine bar - and i see the old slappers that used it before are back in. shame this place actually could have been a welcome relife for twickenham.. Could someone tell me what is good about the food - we had some and it was so bland it needed extra pepper and salt just to get it down - people of Twickenham are you so easly pleased??
richardgoldsmith - 22 Jan 2006 00:53
I have visited on a few occasions and the only reason I have returned was that the food is amazing and offers something completely different to other establishments in the area. The menu is fresh, exiting and great value for money. But the service was poor, it took 15mins to get my drinks order and there was only 2 other tables seated??? I also found the bar staff rude and more interested in chatting to other members of staff than customer service. If they could get the front of house in order they would have a fantastic venue.
pubjudge - 18 Jan 2006 10:47
After waiting so long for the place to re-open I wasn't dissapointed. The food is amazing, staff will cater to your every whim and the cocktail list is fab!
julianna - 12 Jan 2006 13:39
Has now re opened as the "Wine Bar'. Now much bigger with the same ambience and ever friendly staff who will tender to your every need if so required. New management in place with a passion for making this place a real success. Tapas and restaurant menu at competitive prices. Have not yet tried the food but having seen it it looks delicious.

Definately a go see and experience and before you know it you'll become a regular I'm sure. Ideal for a night out catching up with friends or a chilled out Sunday afternoon relaxing to some chill out sounds whilst sipping a nice Merlot.

Twickersbornandbred - 20 Dec 2005 15:07
Opens Friday (16/12/05) as "The Wine Bar" as I understand it. I'm lucky enough to be going to the opening night, so a further review will follow.
griff - 14 Dec 2005 08:49
Probably my favourite bar in Twickenham. Cosy, good tapas, good wine, non-pretentious and a nice little garden in the summer. Can't wait for it to open again!
pinot - 5 Dec 2005 16:18
Don't panic! I have from a very good source that Harringtons is due to re open early December. If you enjoyed it before you should find the new Harringtons even better. We've all missed this place and look forward to the re opening!

Twickersbornandbred - 24 Oct 2005 15:20
What is going on with this?! Harringtons is one of the best wine bars in the Richmond area and its closed, we've been waiting to have a girly night out there for ages! Can anyone shed light on this??
Lady - 8 Oct 2005 12:48
have they run out of cash for the refurb?
Cleversaz - 26 Jul 2005 19:00
Appears to be now closed.

Great place to relax with a glass of wine and a bite to eat. The staff are great, very friendly. There is a very laid back autmosphere with good music. It's the kind of place where you'll get to know others who go there and you'll always recognise someone when your in. Great all hours of the day, for a cup of coffe in the morning, lunch or evening tapas. Definity one to try. Perfect for private functions!
Sarah - 24 Sep 2004 13:05
its a wine bar and restaurant, and a fair few pub goers in Twick are going there just for drinks. Its nice, especially to sit outside on a warm evening and watch cricket on the green or the world going by. Friendly staff. Due to expand soon into a bigger bar I think
