Planning permission granted today for change to residental. Sad as it could have been a lovely local pub
The Beehive is still closed and for sale.
Rumour has it that a fair bid is in for the Beehive, to restore it as a decent community pub now the Red Lion has gone all self-conscious. Unfortunately the owner has a distorted view of its value. Hey ho.
New planning application submitted and pub being touted on the internet as a potential conversion to housing.
A shame as the place was doing well before the enforced closure, the beer was decent and the food was good - with the Red Lion up the road Upper Basildon was a worthwhile afternoon trip out.
Still closed and boarded up with railings all around.
The Beehive has closed.
Hurridly boarded up yesterday, looks like the owners are trying to close it down again.

Visited this pub a few times and have received excellent service and fantastic food every time! It's a lovely country pub with a warm and friendly atmosphere, there's an old fashioned but modern decorated bar and a spacious restaurant at the rear, they also have a marquee which recently held their annual beer festival. Would defiantly recommend this pub!

Recently saved from turning into a private house by a local campaign. Some very ancient features inside, but coupled with modernistic refurbishment. Has an air of being a gastropub, but decent enough beer selection. Visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon, so not much action, but a pleasant enough diversion from a drive in the country.

What a gem. Decent beer, excellent food, my ribeye steak was gorgeous with homemade chips, I mean real chips none of this frozen fry rubbish. I had a really great evening here, and definately recommend it to anyone.
Very nice place, friendly staff, good atmosphere. Food disappointing, sirloin steak supposed to be well done was the rarest I've seen. Peppercorn sauce was watery and disgusting, chips were undercooked too. My advice here is 'Get a New Chef; before you lose business.

Friendly place in a decent location, but the prices are too high. 2.50 for a pint of Fosters, whereas just accross the square same pint for 1.70! Frequented by chavs who wish to upgrade.

Under new Management this Inn is in a very picturesque location. It has been completely refurbished to a high standard. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were helpful and friendly. The food was varied and fresh and waiting time minimal. The evening was very enjoyable and I would definitely return.

Just had excellent refurb and new landlord. Decent food and good service; lovely atmosphere and furniture with wooden and flag stone floors. They welcome dogs and kids - which is excellent. Will go again if we can find it!

It is now open all day which is handy but does sometimes get a bit "luvvy" so don't go in your gardening clothes in the evening or on the weekend ! Beer kept well and owners friendly...
Appears to be under new managment. Stylish looking menu, great food and wine. The best night out I've had in ages.

What happened to the Thai food? Ate in the Restaurant, the food was v.authentic & excellent. Good wine to go with it too.
Phew ! What a gaff ! Bas all over. Just forget you ever went there ( or intended to ).
There has never been anyone in there when I visit except once when there was a family on the sofa watching telly and drinking alchopops ! They wanted over 4 for a whiskey Mac but they do normally have 1 real ale on although it changes frequently. Has a Thai restaurant bit which again always seems empty.

I used to know the cook there, Carol. She made great food. A bit of a toff's pub and very cliquey. But good food and drinks but a tad on the expensive side.
