This pub has a new manager, Nikki from the Goat and Boot. I have been in twice since she has taken over and both time the place was packed. As for the 'smoking shed', well most places have a place for us degenerate smokers! The most important thing is that the beers are very well kept and there is a good variety. There are plans to rotate the beers which, of course, they can do as a free house. As for druggies, I haven't seen any evidence of them.

Went in this pub for the first time recently, very pleasent! Both the barmaid and landlord were friendly and welcoming. After having a chat with the landlord about his beers he later gave me a couple of free sample glasses of two new beers he was putting on the next day. Something unheard of wher I live (South Essex). Recommend!

olderbutwiser....you must be easily pleased then if you think things are getting better and better in this warn out old street pub which tends to attract a "questionable" group of punters. The phone box outside is still a collection point for the local druggies!

A much improved pub, I've been drinking here occasionally for some months now and things have got better and better. Despite a shaky start there always seems to be at least 4 real ales available, service is good and the locals are, by and large, friendly. The pub is always clean and tidy and the decor is well maintained.

Kept away from this pub for a while due to the reputation it developed when it was the Blue Boar and The Pink Panther but went in last weekend to see. Beer was just about okay, service was just about okay but the atmosphere was terrible. There were more people drinking and smoking in what can only be called a "smoking shed" just outside the back door. Only one other guy was actually drinking in the pub....and that was 10pm on a Friday!

I've been in a couple of times recently and have been welcomed by the landlord on each ocassion. Three ales on offer from Adnams and Wolf breweries. A lot of potential as is a reasonable size with a bar area and a seated area and is right in the middle of a lot of housing.

I thought this pub was going to be great under a new name and landlord...how wrong I was. I've visited twice - last time I was met by an obnoxious little t**t behind the bar. He was rude and full of himself. I asked for a pint of Broadside to be told it wasn't on (turn the clip round then I thought). I then asked for a pint og Black Sheep - it smelt like egg. Shame; the pub has so much potential but I refuse to be treated like I was and will just spend my money elsewhere.

Newly re-opened pub, it had previously been the Blue Boar, and the Pink Panther, and now re-opened as a real ale pub.
Price is good, but beer selection not so great. 3 ales on, but the one i had was off so had to return it. Only beers left were 2 Adnams beers. Would have expected a better choice on a Saturday.
Lots of potential in this place, just needs to be realised.
