Looks like this one's gone. Lots of scaffolding up.

Seems to change hands on an almost weekly basis, the current management have a vicious guard dog behind the bar which probably tells you what type of clientelle they're attracting these days. Hooligan heaven

Haven't been here for years. Go past it regularly and it's always empty. Used to go here when it was Biddy's about 10 years ago. Used to have proper live bands (drummer, no kareoke machine) and it was heaving and the people behind the bar knew what they were doing.

Seems to be suffering from an identity crisis. This was once a notorious IRA fund raising pub back in the old days of Kilburn, then became an Anitipodean theme pub, and now seems to be a confused hybrid of both. Has reverted back to the Biddy's name, but still has signage directing you to the "Dunnies" and "Sheilas". Very bizzarre.

I stopped in on my annual St Patrick's Day Kilburn High Road pub crawl, only to be less than impressed. While alleging to be celebrating St. Patrick's Day, the place was virtually empty, and was playing Puffy Daddy/Puffy/P Diddy/Diddy (again, adding to the identity crisis). Was ultimately disappointed to find that I couldn't use the dartboard, because beneath it was a reserved table with a handwritten A4 note on the wall noting "Staff Only". Nice to note the staff reserve the best spot in the pub for their breaks, at the customer's expense. Great way to run a pub people.

Anyway, I only go to Kilburn once a year, so my typical "won't be going there again" response will be of little consequence. I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone though.....except possibly the confused Irish/Aussie comic Jimeon.

Biddys is an average pub now. Was great when it was known as the Southern K under Aussie management, cheap curry and beer nights, pool comps. The place was packed midweek. Now it just resembles a place for the dodgy DVD sellers to grab a glass of water. Miss it.

It has indeed reverted to Biddy`s. For what reason i don`t know, apart from the piped Irish music and a change of staff it seems exactly the same!

Has this place been converted back to Biddy's? I thought it may have been especially for St patricks day but the Biddy's signs were still there when I walked past a few days ago.

Southern K on a Sunday night is one of Londons best kept secrets. Dave Clark and his great band play every Sunday. I moved to Kilburn very near to Southern K a few months ago and have been going there nearly every Sunday since, and I am always impressed. Andy Cortez is a star in the making, Ian Siegal is an amazing blues singer/guitarist who also does a great Jagger impersonation (although he has not played with them there for quite a while now) and the whole band, led by Dave Clark are brilliant. Its also free, but if you dont put money in the bin you shouldnt be there. VB's for 2 as well.

I haven't been to the Southern K since early September...Is Dave Clarke and The Blues of Cain still playing on Sunday nights? Andy Cortez usually jams with them.

Thanks!

"Coldest Beer in Town" the incredibly stupid sign says outside. So you go inside and everyone is drinking snakebite.

I really can't work these places out. Allegedly an "Australian bar" but there's no bars like it in Australia. And yet it's full of Australians. What's the point?

And what are all the flags for? Does everyone salute it whilst singing the national anthem at 9pm or something? Oaaar yearrh maate, it brings a tear to the eye.

My mate has moved to within falling in distance of Southern K and has enthused frequently about their Sunday nights and great band. Popped down there one Sunday night and there was a great band, like being in 'Later with Jools Holland', they were that good.

Chaka Khan sung there recently too, I was told. The other lady who was there when I went is apparently her sister.

Surprisingly good place to go. Kronembourg white beer on tap too, the poor man's Hoegaarden.

Panda,

The band u saw was most likely The Blues of Cain. Ian Siegal was prob. the singer, I saw them in Reading last year and they blew everyone away!

Apparently they play every Sunday, i'm thinking of coming along, pls post if you see them again!

A band played there on Sun 2nd May, completely awe inspiring, amazing funk/latin/jazz band, got the whole place going - Can someone please please please tell me who they were?
Just to jog your memory, there was this 'kid' singing, with the most fantastic voice! - want to see them again. I and others heard them, we all trickled off the street to watch...with acts like that i'll be going there again!

Southen K is the best thing that has happened to kilburn in the past few years. It is a pleasure to know the staff and the customers are always very pleasant. This is a great place to go any night of the week.

Gret Atmosphere. Pumping on weekends. Favourite in the area

It has become an Aussie pub now, which is a bit of a shame. Not becaue I don't like 'em, rather because it doesn't reflect the mix of Kilburn. It's also to loud!

Been in there recently and am pleased to see that upstairs has now been turned into "The Dirty Rider Club" on fridays and saturdays. Saw some great bands there over the weekend. Things are looking up here..........

top antip pub in kilburn. atmosphere is usually good and it's always possible to get a good view to watch sports there if they're on the telly. there's now a small, cool club upstairs that's better than the name "Klub K" would suggest.
greggo - 19 Aug 2003 16:59
