Nice pub just ridiculously expensive - drink and food. 2 half pints of coke and a bloody mary was 11.50. You have to be drunk to start thinking those prices are ok.

i had the smallest meal I've ever had. i was so gobsmacked when it arrived i though it was a small starter til i remembered no-one was having a starter! I had the one vegetarian option and it was lieteraly about 4 mouthfulls. why didn;t i complain at the time? our son had booked, it was v busy, and i didn;t want to spoil the evening. it was beatifully tasty BUT. i never have a started or a pud when i go out, but i was still hungry so had to have a pudding

I'm going to be generous and give the Abbeville a 4 out of ten. As chain pubs go, this isn't as bad as the average All Bar One.

But I think the service is very very ropey. This Saturday one of the barmaids spilt beer all over my mate's back and didn't apologise and one of us actually had to tell the latino barman off for being so unpleasant to us.

They don't sell non-alcoholic beer either, so if you're off the sauce (which I am) your options are limitted.

If you're in the area, I recommend walking up Narbonne Avenue to FireFly, where the staff are, at least, Happy to see you.

I went to The Abbeville with a group for a friends birthday lunch and was extremely impressed. The waitress was friendly and returned after every course to check how the food was. The sausages and mash, steak and burgers were amazing although the lamb shank appeared to be mutton rather then lamb. For dessert the group either had the brownie and the banoffie pie - both were delicious. The wine menu was great with a large selection of both white and red from around the world.

My friends and I would highly recommend this pub for a relaxing lunch with friends.

Great food (although a little expensive) and great beer. The South African chap behind the bar is superb - friendly, and incredibly efficient. The Tim Taylor Landlord is to die for...

Fantastic food, if not a little expensive for a pub. Sat in front of the cosy fire, enjoyed our delicous meals while being served by friendly wait staff, was worth spending a the extra for a great dinner.

With reference to the post below, the assistant manager concerned has now moved on, our complaint about the issue described was dealt with more than satisfactorily by the man in charge, and we'll be going back to the Abbeville because it's a good pub.

Has anyone else been here since the new manager took over? Had a great evening until closing where we were shooed around the pub to places where we could finish our drinks. When we questioned why others were still drinking, she was just rude - apparently she could close her pub how she wanted. If you do not act like a sheep being herded in a One man and His Dog type scenario, she will start to shake with rage. If she continues to close the pub how she wants to, then she is not going to have anyone to get rid off - this is a nice pub with some great staff but the attitude of the management needs addressing before they lose all the regulars like me - until she amends her attitude, go to Firefly Clapham Common, the Glow Lounge or the Stonhouse in Clapham.
Shame - was a nice pub in a nice area but steer clear

Great pub, very friendly staff and a lovely location (I may be overly influenced by going there on the first sunny day of the year). Good pub though, expecially with the lack of other decent places in Clapham.

Nice local pub. I've always found the food to be good and the staff are pleasant enough (especially the French guy).

Gets very busy especially at weekends so book if you want to go for lunch.

Decent enough beer selection (Harvey's, Hoegaarden) let down by bored, uninterested staff who can't be bothered to greet customers.

Went here for the first time at the weekend. The food was decent without being exceptional and the service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was good among the clientele of well heeled Claphamites in their 20s and 30s. If you want Sunday lunch here you'll need to reserve a table as it gets very busy.

i live round the corner from this pub, and as a pub its great. good beer and a nice atmosphere. however, i tried the food for the first time yesterday, never again....i ordered chicken schnitzel, when it came up it looked fairly bland but I thought that it might be nice anyway. I started eating and had got about one third of the way through (which was fine), before noticing that the chicken was TOTALLY RAW on the inside. I dont mean a little bit pink or undercooked, i mean absolutely raw. I dont see how its possible for a chef to make a mistake this bad and dangerous. Obviously they took it off the bill, and didnt make me pay for the two beers that I had, but i was still annoyed and to be honest I dont think I should have had to pay for my girlfriends salad as she was so sickened by this that she couldnt finish it. My girlfriend had a chicken salad, thankfully the chicken wasnt raw but it was dry and tasteless. Its a shame, but i dont think i could bring myself to try the food here again.

Great local pub and been known to be frequented by the guy from Little Britain (not thats a reason to go here), has good food, good beer but the atmosphere is what that makes this pub... great in the summer and try to get a seat on the footpath or in the front room which has opened doors outside.... also serves good coffee...

So dissapointed with this pub.
Only live round the corner so took parents there on a weekday lunchtime a year ago and was impressed by friendly, attentive staff and decent food. Have returned 3 or 4 times since and each has been progressively worse.........The food service is just awful with so many mistakes made and the staff just plain rude and disinterested! Watch out also for the service (what service?), which is unjustifiably automatically added to the bill!

Decent pub, nice staff, handy location. A bit small and quite hard to get a seat, but generally pretty good for a Clapham pub!

After a bit of a trek to find this pub, it is tucked a short way away from clapham common. I was very pleasantly surprised by what I found. A really interesting looking pub, that had spilled out on to the street from its invitingly open, split level frontage. The beer was good and so was the rose wine. Service at the bar was top notch, but the food service less so. The Food was very nice, but a little pricey. I will be going again.

Nice pub, but it's a shame they went and expanded it at the back so that it's now more of a restaurant, rather than a great pub where you could get great food. Also, prices up, service down, food quality and menu poorer.

Fantastic local. Great food (if a little pricey), friendly staff (if a little posh) The best place to catch up with mates or simply sit outside & watch the world go by.

The kind of pub you'd want your friends and their friends and their friends to visit. An ideal venue for midweek cheeky drinking!

An excellent local bar, good food, friendly staff - all round the best pub in the area. Worth the good reviews it has had the press.

pub is great but had bag stolen from bar. the staff were wonderful and helpful about it but mentioned that a few people (men & women) have had their bags taken recently. love the pub and will always go back but just be careful...never thought it would happen to me.
