It is close to the station, which is the best thing about Chippenham.
And being close to the station is the best thing about this pub.
A large imposing building, pleasant, from the outside...
The staff were friendly, not offensive.
Would suggest bottled beer.

Black Horse OK pub , usually good swift service, prices and beers OK, usually very busy at weekends, however when it is busy at weekends, deafening music, sweaty atmosphere, and a load of pretty yobby folks is not that attractive. Building OK , but again toilets at the weekend are pretty gross

I visited during Chippenham Folk Festival this year, and the selection of real ales was great. There was even a real cider (Cheddar Valley) which might have looked a bit like flat Iron Bru but tasted like the proper stuff should do. Service was friendly, and as swift as it can be when the pub is heaving with folkies. During the Festival, there are song sessions in the pub and a ceilidh or dance displays in the back yard - and the entertainment is all free!
