Went to this pub Monday evening, with a very large group 40 plus in number. The Fullers London Pride was off and pints had already been returned. Despite this they carried on serving it believing that we could not tell the difference between beer and vinegar. The alternative Doombar was only just edible. If you like beer this is not the pub for you.

Superb. Been here twice now and impressed both times. Traditional with log fire, complete with dog asleep in front of it. Walls adorned with old photos and amusing nick-nacks. Were only 2 ales on though. Resolute, which I had and which was more than acceptable, although slightly on the cold side and an Adnams (I think). I had some pheasant, which was delicious. 5 other members of my party similarly impressed with both food and pub. Cows at bottom of garden who stare at you when you walk down there. Smell in the car park a little overbearing
Well worth the trip. Thoroughly recommended and service 1st class

nice little pub tucked away with the back garden literally looking out onto fields full of cows. Inside was quirky with low ceilings. Food looked ok (not sampled) and ales on tap were TEA, Bombardier and Broadside. Both tasted fine to me, maybe on the chilly side....but they were a bit on the cloudy side. �3.50 a pint.....not too bad. Would visit again if in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way....closed between lunch and evenings...opening at 6pm..

Nice old pub in a lovely location, tucked away off the main road with ample car parking to the side and well kept garden to the rear. We visited for a family lunch on a bank holiday Monday and found the staff courteous enough (we did catch the barman taking a swig of mineral water directly from a bottle before serving it to another customer, wich did seem strange!) The meals were served promptly with generous portions of meat but were let down by the soft and soggy roast potatoes and vegetables. The keg beers were OK but the two real ales on tap (TEA and Bombardier) both had a slightly chemical taste. The barman replaced the beer when we mentioned it to him, but the second pint was not much better. The pub was less than half full on a sunny bank holiday, which perhaps suggests that both food and ale could be better.

Popped in here yesterday after a 7 mile walk with wife and dogs.
Very pleased with this pub. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Hogs Back TEA was in very good condition. Liver and bacon was well cooked and good value. Will definitely be back. Nice log fire burning away. A good old-fashioned, unpretentious pub.
Worth a visit.

WOW! What a find! A friend recommended this pub when i said i was looking for a old fashioned traditional olde worlde pub that was different from the majority of modern, polished wood, national chain, frozen food serving pubs. LOOK NO FURTHER. The atmosphere was superb.From the warm welcome to our large birthday party of 12, to pre dinner drinks under the fabulous wisteria covered pergola overlooking the Hampshire countryside,to our delicious main courses of home made food and the very attentitive staff made this a really unforgetable night. Always a good sign when a place is full of locals offering entertaining banter.Thankyou again for making it a special night for us all and rest assured you will be our no.1 destination from now on. WELL DONE.

This pub is set in a nice village vocation, however this is unfortunately where your pleasant evening ends, The starter of mixed fish grill was not fresh but clearly from the frozen section of a local supermarket and since stuck in a deep fat fryer, it tasted of old oil and not much else. The main course of sausage and mash was a highlight and I would recommend this dish. The other main course of sirloin steak was a distinct disappointment; chips straight from a packet, mushrooms that had been left to fester under the lights of a serving hatch and a steak which lacked any flavor. The bill arrived and we were shocked by the high cost per head considering the poor standard of food, more like motorway service station than gastropub. The service was pleasant although not up to standard considering the price.

Have been here several times recently and it has been consistently good for food and beer. Fab :-)

Worth a visit. We had a good value Sunday lunch, with plenty of choices. We sat outside in the busy Garden, but there were plenty of tables inside. The staff were really friendly and efficient. They had 3 beers on, 6X (which I did not try) plus TEA and Hob Goblin - both in good condition.

Great place . The food is excellant. Good food at value for money prices. Have to book at weekends for eating. Good choice of beer.
