Popped in on a Saturday night. Live music on and very busy, I am led to believe that music is on most Sat nights. Tim T's again but not a bad drop. If out for a quiet drink on a Sat night forget it!

Ok pint of timmy taylors landlord. Locals seem a bit parochial and hostile. no scratchings . big telly so unfortunately football is on.

Well, if you have to. A decent pint perhaps but why should a small local try to compete with footie and music in the big pubs? A cheerful, welcoming chatty pub with a choice of good beers and a bit of acoustic music once or twice a week would be so much better than this fairly boring establishment. Its get up and go has got up and gone.

This pub looks quite promising from the outside. But inside wasn't quite as good. My main objection was that the live football being shown on the TV was being shown at an excessive volume. At the rear is an upper level where the pub narrows and there is a pool table. We opted to sit in this area, as far away from the speakers as possible. The main bar area has exposed brickwork. Black Sheep is the only real ale and features on both handpulls.

Yes, Ape_arrody it's the wrong Richmond. Thanks for pointing that out! Readers please note, my comments do not apply to the pub in Yorkshire!

Its a really nice cobbled street and we were stopping in a b&b on the other side so we popped in here mainly to keep an eye on the car.
Full of lager drinkers so I gave the Bombardier a try half expecting it to be sour, but it wasn't. All in all though I wouldent really recommend this pub. I'll be generous and give it a four.
I would however recommend the Frenchgate guest house with its fine views and the couple who run it are really nice.
I think the previous reviewer has mistaken this pub for the Old Ship in Richmond Surrey. Make sure you turn right at the traffic lights.

Have now eaten here. Wouldn't recommend the food. My Fish and Chips was decidedly average and my wife's Hot Beef Sandwich came as we other three diners had almost finished. It was tasteless. The bread was not buttered and there was even more salad hiding between the bottom two slices of bread, instead of meat. It took two bites before meat was discovered. The beer remains good though but it will remain a "Drinks Only" pub for us. Oh yes, the doors still bang very loudly as they slam shut, needs a bit of screw twiddling to fix, not much fun if you are sitting next to the door.

Nice Pub. Beer good, food looks good, we haven't eaten there yet. Can get busy but our favourite in Richmond.
