Seemed to be the drinker's pub in St Mawes but couldn't really judge based on just one visit; Doom Bar and Sharp's Atlantic were on sale.

Local's pub seemingly run by 16 year old schoolgirls.
Catch phrase "sailing yah?! arf arf!"

In fairness it did sell the only pint of Doombar I have ever found remotely palatable, unfortunatly it lasted one night!
Food was reasonable.

When we were in it was packed, and it was very hot and humid.

They should teach the girls not to ignore people stood at the bar for 20 minutes though, because some apprently rich folk come in.

Decent bar staff woudl make this a good pub.

Great pub, popular with locals and visitors alike. Good pint of Betty Stoggs and some of the best pub food I've tasted in a long time. Very efficient bar staff too. Highly recommended.

Had a fine pint of Doombar and really nice sausages & mash here. Which was pretty much what I wanted.

Can't understand any of the negative views on this place.Stayed in St Mawes for 2 nights and didn't see any need to go 'crawling' after the first night. The beer and the atmosphere was first class. Went through the pumps and didn't have a complaint. The Betty Stoggs and Doom Bar were as good as anywhere else I've drank it and the Cornish Shag, although a little on the opaque side was eminently drinkable and was not at fault, just distinctive. Roseland are perfecting a number of beers and improving all the time so try it anyway. Didn't eat here as were we were half board at our hotel but if what we saw and smelt was anything to go by, I'd say it would be worth dining here. The staff and in the landlord in particular were very sociable and welcoming and were always ready with an amusing anecdote for all types from the hoity toity yachting set or the local lads, who appear to frequent this pub as a local.Highly recommended. Just one word of warning, approach the wasabi nuts with caution!

Stopped for food after visit to the Castle. I echo the comments about the 'Cornish Shag.' The beer was clear, but there was a hint of home brew about it where as the Betty Stogs was as good a pint as I have had in Cornwall. Food was good with the Pub's speciality being fish. If only they get the Cornish Shag right it would be perfect as it is nice to have something other than Skinners or Sharps all the time.

Just spent the week in St. Mawes and really liked this boozer. Good beer and atmosphere. Obviously the locals' favoured watering hole. One niggle and this doesn't affect my rating but Landlord take note. I had a pint of the cornish shag that was very cloudy and I mentioned this to the barmaid who went 'round the back' and came back to say that this was how the beer was suppose to be. I bought a pint of Skinners' Betty Stoggs that was very good. Disappointing blip but didn't prevent me from revisiting when the beer was top notch (Betty Stoggs again).

Nice pub. Didn't think too much of their own beer from The Roseland Brewery. Tasted a bit like my dad's home brew and that isn't a good thing!!

Good little pub, up a little side street. As others have said, it has a nice fresh and clean interior with the usual nautical theme, with loads of pictures of yachts adorning the walls. Looked like they had some nice specials on with plenty of fresh fish dishes to be had, but a little bit out of my price range to be honest. Plumped for the Doom Bar (again!), and again it was well kept. Got talking to a group of lads from Oxford who shared our interest in real ales, and judging by the way they were going through the pumps, they might have struggled to find there way back to the ferry to Falmouth! On the whole a pleasant place for a pint.

Dived into this pub to get out of a downpour and it was a great place for both food and ales. Found Roseland Cornish Shag that is brewed in the sister pub Roseland in Philleigh nearby. Very good it was too. Food looked a little pricey, but had no complaints over the portions served for the price, and the rib eye steak was done to perfection.

This is everything a pub should be. Terrific and very friendly service with a beautiful interior - very marine-like. Food is excellent and service very good with a great 'Specials' board. Highest recommendation.

Excellent recent lunchtime visit.Friendly with good value food. The 2 ladies in our party raved about the home made pea and basil soup and benifited from having 2 large glasses of house wine with the rest of the bottle free-have experienced this in big chain pubs but never before in what is basically a great local. Plenty of notices about other offers as well.

I've been here a few times in the day on visits to Cornwall, seems very pleasant. I've had a few decent pints of Doom Bar here aswell.

A charming little pub tucked up a sidestreet in one of Corwall's prettiest seaside villages. Good selection of ales and excellent bar food. Has a very good restaurant upstairs.
