user reviews of the Halfway House, Rickmansworth

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The ale was freezing cold, beer garden, interior and car park tatty.

Trying to be a restaurant, live music event, family venue and locals pub all in one.

Staff are pleasant enough and the outside of the building is absolutely lovely (with large car park which is rare in Rickmansworth).

For me, this place just doesn't hit the mark. With some fairly major changes, could be amazing - needs to perhaps aim to steal slightly older, family clientele from the eternally busy Feathers? But some big money needs spending I expect...

Great big boozer, good ale, nice staff, serves food and plenty of Sport on. They seem to do a lot for community groups and having met the staff and management then I say fair play to them, "Good on". We enjoyed ourselves and were made very welcome as visitors from out of the area. I will return.

Live music at the weekends now, quite a good atmosphere.

once again, i'll repeat that this is a nice pub, howvever i would like to complain about the ridiculous pricing of certain drinks. for example, the price of a pint of coke is 2.70, sounds alot to me. could buy 4-5 cans of coke 4 that amount of money!!!!

this is a quality pub, nice atmosphere, safe quiz on a Sunday evening and Mr Steve Evans is a legit geeze with a bizarre but funny laugh.
would recommend it to anyone.

A much improved and welcoming pub. Very good food (I can personally recommend their Christmas Fayre)and ale kept in good condition. Limited wine list, but I am sure that will improve.

Further to comments from 'swordsman5' he fails to state that he was asked to leave the Halfway House due to intoxication and having been removed, caused Criminal Damage to a window and was subsequently taken into custody by the Police. To customers such as this, I make no appology for appearing unwelcoming or surly, as I run a straight pub, free from criminal activity. My customers enjoy a warm welcome.

Under new management as of Oct 2007, the new landlord is not the most ideal host, miserable, surly and one of the most unfriendly people I have ever met behind the bar.

Usually a good atmosphere. Choice of 4 real ales but unreliable quality. Had to send beer back as undrinkable.

Was in here in Febuary, found the place to be ok, has had a bit of a rep. in the past, 6 seems a fair score.
