What a dump.

Worse today than I remembered from 4 years ago! Wherry went off, so apart from Abbott (a bit strong for a lunchtime session) just keg left. Food simple and still overpriced.

A straight forward no nonsense boozer, very clean ,a reasonable pint but gas assisted. Sharp service, the prices are reasonable. A pool table and A large model of the Ark Royal help fill the pub with interest. No pub in Wells stand out as special and this does well on the basics, a good community feeling abounds.

Wells deserves better pubs than this, however much they raise for ex-servicemens charities, beer was flat and tasted off, returned it, got an apology from the bar staff and a refund, and a different beer as well

A pub which, looking at it from the outside, is not the most attractive that you'll see in Wells. However, we wandered in and ahd apint of the ubiquitous woodforde Wherry which was very well kept. Atmosphere was fine with locals engaging in banter with the Landlady. Clean and tidy inside with many photos of the various incarnations of the Ark Royal.

been using this pub for 10 plus years, pretty reliable usually a good pint, will willingly change if not to your satisfaction, food pretty normal like 10000 other pub meals

I called in the other day and on my visit it wasn't anywhere near as bad as people have said before.
There were 5 cask ales available, the Wherry that I drank was fine. The food was okay although a little bit pricey for what it was. A handy enough location though.

don't seem to know how to serve a full pint, the wherry served through a tight sparkler, tasted like dish water!, no friendly atmosphere, and rather expensive too. didnt eat anything, but food looked like normal packaged frozen fayre.

a very council looking estate pub, with a very cloudy pint of abbot that was long past its sell by date, vinegar springs to mind and palate,it was changed but with no good grace whatsoever.on the plus side if you use the council car park on the right hand side of the pub, there is the WHIN HALL CIDER LTD. shop that sells cider and apple juice, well recomended by mrs man at the bar,who on occasion likes a drop of cider, this was our first pub in wells on sea but it did get better, sorry wont give a rating,it could have been a off day,but they really should try harder

A weathered sign outside this pub claims it is CAMRA recommended and specializes in local real ales. Don't know how old this sign is, but I have every edition of CAMRA's Good Beer Guide dating back to 1997 and can't find a listing for this pub. Another sign on the wall claims the pub sells Woodforde's Norfolk Ales. The only beers on offer when we visited were the inevitable Greene King IPA and Abbot plus John Smith's.
We visited on a chilly day during the October half term. The pub interior looked quite enticing but as we had small children with us we went into the family room. This was small and unheated- absolutely freezing cold. There was a free-standing heater in the room but this wasn't switched on until another customer demanded this. We went for the Abbot Ale which was just about drinkable but 'on the turn' and not far off turning into vinegar. Despite the fact that the pub menu was very restauranty, the actual food choices were quite basic- things with chips. Our food when it came was of the 'brought in on a van' variety, eg featuring those caramel coloured, leathery skinned sausages with an indeterminate pulpy interior which will be familiar to anyone who has eaten breakfast in a Little Chef. Main plus point was that the food was hot- microwaves have that effect. In a nutshell, only come here if you have kids with you and are intimidated by the 'posher' pubs in the town.

The staff was most unfriendly. The food is not often available. Avoid this place for any other.

Up there with one of the worst pubs on the planet. Avoid like the plague in the summer. Expect the place to be empty when smoking ban kicks in - it may improve ????
