Great country pub. Landlord has really got the place going. Good food but a little expensive. Good pint of Fullers pride. Great service. Nice place to visit after a walk along the old railway line . Enjoy your visit.

Just happened to almost drive by this pub.. so glad we didn't. Couldn't get a table at the garlic farm nearby. Looks nothing special but the sign outside stating 'local produce' drew us in. The Sunday lunch was fabulous. And I'm fussy. Desserts huge and homemade and delicious. Fantastic well kept beer. Locals all standing at the bar with great banter mixing with holiday makers such as us. Lots of tables with reserved signs on them so obviously a good sign. Just wish I wasn't driving as the ale was fresh and looked after. We will be back!

Very busy on a Sunday lunchtime. As I was there at noon prompt, no problem getting a table but half an hour later the place was full. It is only a small pub, with two rooms. Rain rendered the garden unattractive, which perhaps added to the press inside.

Friendly landlady (Rachael?) served promptly and food came quickly too. I had Okell's from the Isle of Man and it was in very good condition. My main course and a pint came to 16, but the roasts were on offer for 8 or so.

Depite the busy food trade, there was a fair sprinkling of folk only having a drink at the bar.

The open-top bus from Ryde stops outside every half-hour daily during the summer. Handy, but at other times of the year, public transport is decidedly sparse.

We popped in here just before the garlic farm. Just as well we did, as the sauce made from naga chillies is lethal and numbed by taste buds for a while afterwards. This pub is out of the way, but appears to be out of the way for diners. The food looked quite appetising, especially the baguettes which were massive. Beers were from Fullers - London Pride & Gales HSB, alongside a guest beer which was Hydes Bitter. The cider was Aspalls. On the negative side, the two people who were working behind the bar and serving meals were rushed off their feet, meaning service was a little slow. The prices were notably excessive and the Sunday opening hours (12-3 only) are fairly limited. It's a nice location. But the prices left a slightly sour taste before the spice of the garlic farm.

Great village pub. Well kept beers and the food is superb, if a little towards the top end of the market for pub food (but worth the money). Recommended, but don't expect to get a table to eat without booking!

Found this today by accident on the way to the Garlic Farm. This is a great pub for food - 4 amazing and very filling dishes and the presentation of the food was excellent. There's no childrens menu but - joy - they do more or less any dish off the menu for half price as a 'half portion'. Well a half portion roast was 3 slices of beef, 2 roasties, a huge yorky and veg selection so plenty for an adult!

Food on the upper price side but well worth it and with the half price for kids VERY good value.

They were turning diners away without bookings so worth booking in.

We found this pub last week when we were on holiday for a week on the Isle of Wight. I had been looking for real ale pubs and this one came up. We went first at lunch time, had a couple of pints of Fullers London and first class bar sandwiches. I had a triple mixed crab sandwich which was superb, top quality ingredients and a full lunch it itself. My wife had a warm bacon and brie baguette which was as good as the crab. There is a small friendly bar and garden and a restaurant adjoining. It is a proper local bar not an add-on to an eating establishment which we have found depressingly common in tourist areas these days.

We went again one evening and I had a serving of boeuf bourguignon with crusty bread as a bar snack. This was as good as the crab, served with four triangles of fried bread to soak up the perfect gravy.

This is a seriously good pub with well kept beer, top class food and a very pleasant atmosphere. Anyone would be chuffed to have this as their local. We wish it was ours!

Regards
