This place is terrible. My fish & chips was possibly the worst I've ever had, the beer choice (Doom Bar) is poor and there were repulsive, out of control kids running around, shouting and standing on the seats. Only plus was the waitress, Amy, was very welcoming. Avoid at all costs.

A group of 10 of us tried to go in for drinks at 21:55 on a Wednesday night. Was told the bar had already shut and turned us away, although advertised times are until 23:00. Not the first time this has happened. Bar was purely shut for staff convenience as they wanted to go home early. Don't bother with this place.

Rubbish place.
Chicken was still a bit pink around the bones, the chips were like rubber bands and I didn't even get a full pint of Guinness.
The place is quite scruffy and could do with refurbishment - The same goes for the staff.
My rating of 1/10 is purely for the salad.

That was probably me Webster. I needed something to wash away the pint of vinegar I'd just consumed in the pub.
Terrible place 0/10

It's a Harvester dump. When I was leaving a girl was giving her boyfriend a blow job in the car park.

If you are visiting this Harvester to take advantage of the earley bird deal I suggest you get there well before the 6.30 deadline ro the staff will keep you waiting for half an hour as a matter of course so you miss the 6.30 cutoff with the excuss they have no tables. what this translates to is we want your money but we a) have not cleaned the tabkes so you cant sit down yet or b) are keeping the tables empty untill after 6.30 so you have to pay full price. Many times we have poped in there and been given this excuss when we looked in the window there were lots of empty tables. Its not worth the wait any waay the food is dire, the chiken comes out cold half cooked the salad is sometimes rotten, and you have to wait ages to be served. The staff are alway polite however. shame becasue evey where else in st albans is so expensive to eat out. Forget being served at the bar you would die of thirst

It's efficent and does what it says on the tin, so to speak. Worth visiting if you're stuck for somewhere to take the kids out to eat...really stuck that is.

Pointless chain dump

This place isn't a pub at all. Given the awfulness of the food (I got dragged there for a Christmas do) it barely even qualifies as a restaurant.

Clean, spacious and well-managed, but definitely a restaurant first and pub second. Good news: meal deals until 6.30pm M-F and 5pm on Saturdays. Bad news: they stock a couple of ales, but these are CHILLED! I had a pint in here yesterday and my teeth nearly fell out (again!). Oh well, this is Harvesters after all: fine for a family meal or office "do", but the Lone Drinker should keep walking.

It's easy to turn one's nose up at Harvester pubs, but I gratefully dived into this one during a recent blizzard. It's warm and clean, and the bar staff were friendly and efficient. My pint of Bombardier at 2.35 was absolutely fine. On the downside, there's no feeling of being in a St Albans pub; in fact it reminded me of a place I know in Warrington! But it's worth a visit if you're ever passing.
