Weary worn down chain pub with no ale. Just about worth sheltering out of the rain with a lager in.

Was driving past and stopped on spec. Totally soulless refurbished place, surely completely out of place in E17. Just drank my pint, took money out of the quiz machine and moved on. But never again.

After getting past the scarey hoodies on bikes loitering outside smoking herbal 'medicines' I entered and was shocked at the change to this once nice pub that was the Chesnuts. They have made it into a poor version of one of the better Weatherspoon Pubs. I looked at the menu and it oozed frozen food so I decided to go later to the Fizzi Italian next door. I went down the other day to Wood Street to The Pig and Whistle and I think they are doing the same sort of thing there but was told by the builders that that is going to be a gastro pub. The Fish stall has even moved up to Woodford! Massive souless place now. Such a shame.

I went there last night. Friendly, helpful bar staff. Really good, reasonably priced food. Things have either picked up a lot since the last comments or I just got there on a really good night!!!. The crowd there were good and there was lots of space. Suprisingly uncrowded for a Friday night.

oh dear we went for sunday lunch there had obviously been some trouble on sat night, broken glass areas cordoned off etc. There were notices EVERYWHERE, do not wear caps, no football being shown, your gonna have to wait 1 hour for food etc. It was a hot day and there was no airconditioning, had to sit outside in the car park!. barstaff were unaware they were there to pour drinks and the lady who informed us of all the rules was rude beyond belief. Then the kitchen closed just as we were about to order - you know at that quiet time around 2ish on a Sunday?????????? What a rubbish pub, still presentation is all when you have no content.

Went for a meal here and I think Jamie Oliver needs to visit it, I don't think I've ever had a meal that consisted of everything frozen and then nuked.

At least it's a first of sorts I suppose !

Nice re-fit. Sadly, as a famous philosopher once said "You can't polish a turd"

Wow - what a transformation! Definitely the best pub in Walthamstow.
Beautiful interior - lovely leather sofas.
We got two great steaks (buy 1 get 1 free) and a 1 litre carafe of wine for 15!!!

Pub now reopened as the Waltham Oak (owned by the Big Pub Company). Looks quite flash inside as viewed from the bus.
