Went in on a glorious spring day to have a quick pint en route home from a national trust visit. Good selection of well keep ales and a decent rose for the girlfriend. Can't say as much for the clientele though, one of whom gave me a filthy look for daring to order drinks ahead of a local who had just arrived at the bar. Weird that so many people would sit indoors with horrendous music on full blast on a beautiful day when there is a decent garden out the back. As we left the police had just arrived and entered the premises.... Would go back, briefly.

We hadn't intended to go to the Queens Head, but the Plough had no food due to kitchen refurbishment so we ended up here.

And actually it was OK. On a busy main road, the QH is a big spacious pub with TV, pool table and the like. Decor is basic. But the lady behind the bar was very pleasant and the range of beer was quite good. Doom Bar ( of course), London Pride, 6X and Old Hooky. We plumped for the latter which was very good, although both it and the 6X had run out by the time we came back for another, so it had to be the LP.

Menu was extensive and good value. Most dishes were in the £8.50 - £9.00 range. My ham, egg and chips was perfectly fine.

The QH probably won't win any awards, but as a drinking local it was fine. I'd have no problems in visiting it again.

What an excellent place. Comfortable, good choice of reasonably priced beers and superb food.

Nice local pub with well kept beers and food served every day, lunchtime and evenings (not sunday evening). Clean and bright, friendly bar staff. Juke box, fruit machines and pool table at one end of the bar area, plenty of room for sitting and talking at the other end of the pub if you don't like the music on the box. Large screen TVs usually only for Sports. If you want something on, just ask. They have all the channels.
London Pride, Youngs and Doom Bar normally available, a wide choice of draught lagers as well.
Some very interesting local history photographs on the walls.
Car park, small garden and well equipped childrens play area at the rear.
B&B also available.

I should add to my review that the overall price for the Sunday Lunch was reasonable - 50 for four of us including a bottle of wine - much less than some restaurants and that there is a good play area for the kids. Great

The best pub Sunday Lunch I have had for many years. Inexpensive food (wine was not cheap, but mid-priced) was freshly made so took 20 odd minutes but absolutely delicious. Real vegetables perfectly cooked, huge portions, the lamb shank was brilliant (obviously slow cooked beforehand - but that's how I do it at home so no problem), the kids food was perfectly good and all service was excellent, friendly and polite. Totally took me by surprise - fantastic.

When this pub we did not feel comfortable with a lots of rowdy young drunks. The beer was good but the atmosphere was threatening. we were pleased to leave as soon as we had finished our drinks.

Popped in for pint about 8pm on Tuesday and was impressed. London pride was clear and tasted great. Good atmosphere and bar service. Food was being served. Didn't check menu or prices, but appeared good standard.

Good pub if your looking for a drink with a group of mates in the evening.

Pool cues not the best in the world, but they aren't too bad for the way some of the people use them.

Food is of a good standard, brilliant portion sizes and a good taste, though it does take a while to get the order done.

Wide selection of beverages to choose from, more of a pub for drinkers i must say.

Since the new landlord took over this pub has been transformed. Excellent real ale, first class food and very friendly, attractive staff. Even the outside smoking facilities, which includes heaters, are excellent. A true locals local!

Went into this pub a couple of times, found the staff very rude and unhelpful. food is ok but don't bother if it is busy. below average pub, lots better pub nearby

Half restaurant/Half Pub, quite full up on Wednesday this week. Decent beer range and a warm feel to the place.

Good Pub Lunch food , though the service can be a bit hit and miss, they are sometimes under staffed so best to avoid the Friday's between 1&2 when full of the office crowd.

Beer is OK, food not bad, 1 pool table, big TV screen, 2 fruitys. On weekends though it seems to turn into a kindergarten type place with kids running around everywhere.
