This pub, a mecca for fans prior to a football game, is an absolute cracker. Always friendly, patient and tolerant service, a great range of real ales and lots of cosy corners. The kind of place you call in for a quick pint and end up staying all night in good conversation with strangers.

A cracker.

Is it really 18 months since I visited this pub? Popped in for a couple of beers on Monday (25/04/11) to find a fantastic choice with beers from Cuerden (brewed by Bridestones), Mallinsons, Blindmans and of course Timothy Taylors Landlord amongst others. Complimentary snacks of cheese, biscuits and pickled onions were on the bar, a nice touch. If you're in Sunderland it is well worth making the pilgrimage to this pub.

Went in on Saturday (08/08/09). Excellent range of approx 8 ales on. Well worth the walk out from the city centre. One of the best proper pubs in Sunderland.

Paid my first visit to this place last night, and it's a cracker. Terrific, well-kept ale selection. Cosy, comfortable interior. Great post-matchday atmosphere - there were even some away fans still there, and everyone was good-humoured and well behaved. Music in the back room, as well.

All in all, an absolutely fantastic pub. Highly recommended.

Lovely pub with a great atmosphere-Fab anytime of the year-The beer garden is great, and on a bank holiday has a marque with live music. Also nice to visit in the winter, as they have a really fire.

Sometimes a pint stands out in your memory for all the right reasons. Timothy Taylor's Landlord served one sunny afternoon in the Kings Arms is just such a pint. About as close to beer heaven as you can get. Shame about the big screen TV though.

Great old pub with friendly locals... independantly owned.

In the summer the garden is nice and often has music on.

Big screen for footie, popular with footie fans on match days.

Excellent real ale.
