user reviews of the New Inn, Christchurch

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Report in local paper suggests a new application for housing, and NO bar, has been submitted, surprise surprise!
Thats the end of that then.

Dear oh dear. People still deluding themselves that we are going to end up with licensed premsises on this location. As if a block of flats is going to have a small bar attached.

Apparently the developement plans for this site include a small bar. I wait with baited breath to see what happens.

Was being demolished when I walked past today...

A couple who want to run the pub as a proper pub have offered to buy it from the developers. We can all hope that they sell it to them saying as the council have killed the planning permission.

It seems that the planning application to build flats was thrown out. It has been reported that Eldridge Pope (owned of course by Marstons) now intend to renovate the place and reopen it a Brewers Fayre-type restaurant.

I take no pleasure in being right Dusty but I'm afraid that this place is no more. It's also not going to be converted into a sports bar cum restaurant or resterunt as Slurper would have it.

The shutters are now up - but whether it reopens as a pub or whether the site is redeveloped, I don't know.

getting busy because of the football.good nite to be had.obviously the word has now spread that your allowed to breath in this pub without being charged or barred because a lot of the old regulars from the fairmile in there saying what a plesant change it is to be in a pub where you are not asked about your private life and where you can also have a private conversation.go up there and watch the football its a laugh

Anonymous is correct unfortunately. It's been sold off to developers but not sure of the closing date. So another Christchurch pub bites the dust which by my reckoning is six since the late 70s.
