One of the best pubs in Wimborne. Agree with the previous post, massive improvement especially now the exterior has been painted and new gents toilets have been put in. Enjoyed a very well kept pint of Ringwood and will be returning again soon

Great pub. Friendly staff and locals. Big big improvement now its reopened.

Omg it must be so much better now. It has half the original staff working behind the bar. All the locals are all back in even the ones that were barred before and they've fitted a new carpet by the pool table. All the other refurbishment work was paid for by the previous lease holder as he was stitched up by Marstons the money grabbing brewery. The place was a shit hole when the previous lease holder took it from a certain someone and much improvement and cleaning was done.
I walked past the other day and all I could smell was cannabis, the car park still looks like Turners Commercials.

Such a massive improvement since this pub has re-opened. So much better run, the staff are friendlier, the atmosphere much improved. Keep up the good work!

Is that retap or retard yes he hart has problems but doesn't every venue. Maybe people in glass houses should not through stones. The word for someone who takes pmeasurw in someone else's misfortunes is called a schadenfreuderor in common terms pri k

Lovely pub, good Wimborne atmosphere and staff are you very polite and nice people as I know most of them personally. Such a shame that malcomretap hasn't really got the slightest idea what he's talking about. I would defiantly know if someone of that calibre had even stepped foot on the upper floor of the pub. Plus my guard dog probably wouldn't have let him past the stairs and I certainly wouldn't want a lying scumbag anywhere near my children. The four bedroom flat above the the establishment is probably better than anywhere you've ever lived. Think you should grow a pair and reveal who you are instead of hiding behind your computer. Where is your evidence for your outrageous accusations? You should really think twice before posting that sort of rubbish people might think you've got an ulterior motive for doing so. If you grow a pair, please don't hesitate to contact me and I'll put you straight on a few things.

This is a really awful, dirty place. Its staff are rude, the clientale are aggressive, drug using good for nothings. Especially the public bar side. The upper floors of this place are used as a doss house. Do not, on any occasion visit this place. The council and police are aware of the issues. Hopefully the brewery will close it down and allow the place to be refurbished, staffed by good tenants or turn it into residential. Terrible place.

On Friday 20th July, my friends and I bought a round of drinks from the bar and sat at the table nearest to the kitchen door. Half an hour later, I stood up to allow my friend to head back to the bar when I was told "you're in the way" by a tallish member of female staff. When I explained I was allowing my friend to pass, she then said "why don't you sit down like a normal human being" followed by "you're still in my way" in a raised voice. At this point we decided wetherspoons, Wimborne would be a nicer place to drink. We opened the door to leave the venue and heard being shouted across the pub, from the kitchen "go to Wetherspoons then, bye, don't come back".
We took the girls advice and never plan on returning. It's a wonder why the pub was practically empty that Friday and Wetherspoons was heaving!

Not been here for some time, but they've started doing Thai Nights on Friday and Saturday - heard about it, went there, and it is absolutely wonderful! Fantastic food, prompt and big portions! Beer was lovely too while we waited!

Great atmosphere, friendly lovely staff and a real buzz. The locals were really nice too - had a few drinks in the 'public' bar, then ate in the 'lounge' bar :) was such a nice mix.

Part of a New Years eve crawl - very pleasant - ale (Ringwood best) very nice and staff accomodating. Local youth a bit noisy - but you're only young once and I must be getting old. Seperate bars are a good feature.

Can be a bit of a youth club on Friday evenings but at least it's lively - unlike many other pubs in Wimborne which closely resemble morgues. That said, the nippers are more often than not polite although they do need a bit of training in bar etiquette. Barging in and ordering complicated, lengthy rounds will not be tollerated, thank you. Beer is always fine here - Ringwood Best, 49er and Old Thumper; sometimes a guest beer too. Staff generally very helpfull and friendly. Great beer garden - very large and lots of tables with an undercover smoking area. In all, it's probably the best pub in Wimborne. Just need to keep the teenagers under control.

Nice pub which feels like a pub should do. Very busy on the Friday nights when I have visited, not tried the food but the beer is good: evern tried a pint of porter (never again). Really nice atmosphere, age range varied would recommend.

I went here last Saturday as they have just refurbished the kitchen and got a new menu and chef... and I have to say the food was absolutely fantastic! An excellent variety (including veggie stuff) and ingredients bought from local folk. Despite it being their 'launch day', with the expected very minor teething problems, the service was fab, the food looked and tasted amazing and we certainly had no complaints over the beer! :) In fact, we went back the following day for the roast - and can whole-heartedly recommend that too! :)

I agree with the post below, Be nice, or should I say fair! Nice pub, good beer and not bad food. Like this place as it is what is says on the tin. A local pub doing local beer with local food served by local staff. Nice to remeber what all pubs once were.

As someone who uses this site to get ideas of great places to eat and drink, I thought it was time to post, I have nothing but really postive things to say about this pub , I coccasional drink here at weekends and theres a great friednly atmoshere... but I was impressed enough to write when I went out for a family meal here . We all thought great choice of drinks, ales etc Great local ( and tasty!) menu, The staff were friendly and hard working ...and we gave compliemts to the chef who we were told was the landlady! Top Marks! we've booked again for Mothers Day!

Oh ps.

Reading other comments ,Ive never found this site to cherry pick... because it was your opinion doesnt make it true? Posts are only removed if theyre are abusive. Be positive and your posts will stay up. Someones obviously not feeling the love on Valentines Day :(!!

The truth must hurt! I posted a comment about this pub and it was deleted. What's the point of the site if the pubs cherry pick the postings?

Best pub in town..really great atmosphere no pub like it in wimborne!!
The bar staff are the most friendliest and hardworking!!
Landlady is incredible really turned this place around and knows exactly how to run a proper pub..brilliant for live music and quiz nights!!never any trouble at the weekends always got a good crowd of regulars in!!

barmaid2 - 10 Feb 2010 10:55
Disagree with last comment, the barmaids are the best looking in dorset! and never seen the landlady drinking, shes done a great job turning it around, you obviously didnt know it before! Always enjoy my pint and heard the foods not bad. Could do with a lick of paint.

How do they do it? Beer is always excellent, food of a consistently high standard and bar staff some of the most charming and hard working I've ever seen - particularly over the folk festival. When other pubs are feeling the pinch, the Hart goes from strength to strength by getting the important things right every time. No stupid theme nights, no crappy Karaoke or arsewitted DJ's, good live music every now and again and the best beer garden in Wimborne. Unlikely to meet any pointy haired fighty blokes in here either which is always a bonus. Top marks, White Hart.

a very nice marstons owned pub pretty hidden away, very nice barmaid, very friendly and helpful and a nice beer garden for those summer evenings, 8/10
fat_beer_badger - 25 May 2008 15:02
Had a pint of 49er. ASked if the pump had a sparkler. It had been removed! For the unfamiliar this is very good news. The sparkler is the thing that adds gas to your beer and knocks out most of the flavour. So the beer was fairly good. They also had Best and Thumper. Very nice steak and kidney pie and a more than passable Sunday roast

The White Hart is a really lovely place. My favourite in the town... not so great for disabled access tho as it was built a long time ago and there are reminders of that around the place
(see also on the inside of the window next to the entrance door - a pair of old handcuffs attatched to the frame, so old, they've been painted over! haha)
But the new owner Kate, has really livened things up. Good music events going on. Lovely cider. Lovely staff.
I particularly enjoyed the Buskers Bash on Saturday the 9th Feb 08.
It was an event to raise awareness for the charity, HYPED (homeless young people in east dorset) and had been produced in collaboration with Arts Institute students. The place was packed out, i really hope to see more of this in the future :)
jaffacake87 - 12 Feb 2008 18:11
The pub is under new management and is very good . Ringwood Best Bitter was excellent; as was the food (lunch) & the staff were friendly and attentive. A good combination. We will go again.
puskas - 18 Dec 2007 16:53
Well kept Ringwood Ales and some decent bands playing during what was overall a disapointing Wimborne festival.

Nice Pub

Quite a good pub, good ale, nice staff. It's not my first choice in wimborne by some way, but I have had some good nights here.
gilgamesh - 25 Feb 2006 12:14
This pub was not easy to find, but Dan,together with his friendly staff and customers, made it well worth the effort.
The unique location close to the Minster gave a special atmosphere to this weekend's well presented and organised Beer Festival with Hog Roast.
I will definitely be returning to sample more of the delights on offer.
