Large pub on the High Street. Very busy at lunchtime, mainly with food. Greene King beers but also 2 others so ok.

The Red Lion Hotel is on the High Street. I'd just visited the Bistro des Amis, around the corner and not listed on here. The Red Lion itself is a Greene King establishment that obviously gets fairly busy at times. The number of empty glasses on tables reminded me of a Wetherspoons. Being a Greene King pub, it had Abbot & IPA. But there was also Bank Top Bad To The Bone, Ossett Silver King, Kirkby Lonsdale Monumental & Moorhouses Blond Witch. As luck would have it, the barman let me try a sample of the Bank Top beer. It was in a very poor condition. So I opted for an Old Rosie instead. I'm sure this pub gets very busy on market days. Food is served. But again, that looked a similar quality to 'spoons. One of the better Greene King pubs though.

Large Greene King pub on the High Street and only one of three pubs that was showing the Wales vs Portugal Semi Final during the Euros.

At 7.30pm it was already busy with quite a few pi**ed blokes at the bar, fairly off putting coupled with the empty glasses and plates of food left on the tables, oh and the flies that were circling by the tv!

8 hand pumps with 8 ales on, only a couple of these were from the GK stable.
The several pints of Kelham Islands' Riders on the Storm @ 4.5% were extremely good, I have to say the ale choice was excellent.

Not a pub I would return to when I'm next in Skipton, it served a purpose for the football and the ale was good but that's it for me.

I was in here about 6 months ago and although all the pumps didn't have beers on them, there was a choice of 4, mainly from the Greene King empire. The food was good too. However, I visited the Good Beer Guide listed pub this Saturday to find lots of incleared tables and apart from the GK IPA modern pump thing, there was only 1 beer on the pumps - at 1.99 which was obviously a clearance thing! Kids crying, the place looked a shambles - we retreated back to the safety of a real pub, that does not try and be all things to all men, women and children!

Decent choice and quality of beer but not a place I'd recommend. Service was fine and the pub itself is comfortable if rather sterile. But the only 'atmosphere' in the place came from a very noisy lot watching live football on TV, one or two of whom really seemed to love the sound of their own voice.

Visited The Red Lion last Saturday having journeyed up on a day trip from London. Had heard some good reports on this pub from Camra members and so decided to investigate. I was not disappointed. It is a Greene King pub and their beers do not excite me. However there were ales from Skinners,Salopian and Titanic on offer and they were in superb condition.
Being next to the market the pub was very busy so had to wait a little while to get served but it was worth the wait.

High St pub popular with the local scallies. Not a lot to recommend it

Close to the big car park in Skipton. Noisy with sport on so loud it's difficult to talk. Had Greene King IPA and Abbot Ale on cask which was in mediocre condition. It took me a while to get served here too. There are better ones nearby further in the town centre.
