My son lived in a student let nearby for a year and only set foot in it once. Horrendous place.

This pub is flippin' marvelous!! Everyone in there is great, especially that really dapper chap with "pablo" written on his jumper. That guy cracks me up. And he is so good at pool too!! It is well worth a visit to the Martha!

Newly taken over and hoping to improve on all aspects of the pub, will be starting up all homecooked food ready in time for the winter months, many new events will be taking place giving it the lift i think it finally needs. Any ideas are always welcome

Whilst I agree with the above comments. I do think this pub should be given some extra time. Yes, we have lost the real ales (Harveys) and the staff turn over has been high and the smoking ban has hit the "local" pub hard. But the landlords have and are turning it from a den of.... Their Sunday lunches are going from strength to strength. Give them another year and.... This time next year Rodders we all be millionaires!

HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR TO STEVE AND THE CREW GREAT FRIENDLY PUB. WELL WORTH A VISIT !!!

This place was my local for 12 months and sadly I have nothing good to say about it. The management were obnoxious and the ale poorly kept. If in the area I would recommend giving this one a miss and visiting The Bugle Inn which is round the corner.

The Martha mybe a locals pub but yet they are all very much friendly. I have been drinking here for a while now and it has been nice to be able to drink in such a great pub. The current landlady has done an excellent job and all the bar staff are happy to work there. If they didn't I'm sure they would leave. Tim didn't you work there? The toilets are in full working order and are clean. Don't like them go else where. The pub temperature could do with being turned up though a little.

Very much a locals' pub, to its detriment. Over the years I've seen several barstaff start off cheerfully, then become increasingly miserable as they realise this ain't the place for them. The Martha does actually have some good points, including pool tables and OK-ish beers. But the toilets are lamentable and proximity to the Lewes Road drags everything down to the lowest common denominator.
