Further to the above, went back for food yesterday. Food excellent - mid range pub grub but very well done/good value and generously sized portions.

For the record this is a Marstons Pub so beers are Ringwood Best and 49er at present plus Thatchers Gold (so I'm happy!) amongst other drinks.

Just popped in here on hearing that the pub has been taken on by the chef from another excellent pup nearby.

Clearly a pub that has previously been allowed to decline, but has excellent potential in its layout (nice big bar, dining room and garden). If anyone can turn it round, Matt can!

OK country pub but nothing special - certainly not as special as the pretentious "mein host" would have you believe!

rather soulless place....despite some local regular trade.
I found the real ales to be of average quality only, nothing spectacular.

Visited on a Bank Holiday Monday - just had to get off the A303 which was crawling, and very pleasing too. Excellent carvery - lamb and beef. Marstons beers in good condition. Absolutely spotless, very clean, and also has a good beer garden at the rear. Vert pleasant young staff. Recommended.
