My favourite pub in Street by far. Always a good beer selection, and the food is superb. And how nice not to have 'musak' and fruit machines in a pub these days.

Stayed here recently and was very pleased with every aspect of our stay.

The food was good value, the beer tasted pretty good and the staff were friendly and helpful despite being quite busy.

Definitely recommend it if you are in the area

Stunningly appatising food menu plus a decent selection of 5 ales from Glastonbury,Bays,Cotleigh,Courage Best & S A Tribute. I did feel a bit sorry for the young female eastern european barmaid that was being subject to the landlord's rather strict training on the day i visited! 7/10

Visited here last Friday. Landlord managed an admrable rendition of Basil Fawlty, unfortunately the poor barman was his Manuel! First rule of succesful PR - do not berate your staff in front of the customers! Even more so, do not tell the barman in front of everyone that he is going to pay for the excess beer wastage in his wages! He then proceeded to ask a friend of ours to move his chair (causing obstruction, although it wasn't), rudely told a customer to use their credit card when they had finished for the total bill, as 'every time I run one of these through it costs me money.' Apparently he has banned people for complaining that the peas were too cold. As for beer, Ok I suppose - 2 from the Wads stable and St Aus Tribute.

My grandparents and I had a very nice meal there yesterday, accompanied by (in my case) a nice pint of Tribute.

The pub has a very nice atmosphere and a wide selection of food and drink, so it comes highly recommended. The only thing is that there wasn't a huge choice of vegetarian dishes on the menu, although the specials made up for this I couldn't say whether this is normally the case or not (it was my first visit).

Good ales, good food, good landlord, unflustered friendly staff and no musak. What more do you want from a pub. New covered smoking area at the rear. Highly recommended.

Really impressed with this one - was good to see the Landlord as the face of the pub, friendly staff, reasonably priced.

Real ales, reasonably priced and excellent food, friendly staff and customers PLUS NO MUSIC.
Just the place for a quiet beer or a family meal as children are well provided for, unfortunately no dogs are allowed.
