Now a coupla real ales; Doom Bar and Otter on my visit, so unexciting but the latter tasted fine. In a rather posh area, this pub doesn't quite hit the mark in decor, atmosphere. Better than a chain though.

Is there no real ale? I didn't see any certainly. Laksa was good if expensive, and therein lies the rub - it bills itself more as a restaurant than a pub. Not too busy at least not indoors. The website is nicelooking but an example of Pointless Flash - which says a lot about the pub really.

Could be a pretty decent pub, but the only bitter they had on was John Smiths keg. The absence of any real ale means I wont be going back.

My wife and I use to enjoy going to the Walmer Castle, there is no doubt that the food is great.
But last night I went along with a large group and the service was shocking. The head waitress (dragon lady) was forcing people to take the set menu. When people objected, each for their own reasons, she became irate and extremely unfriendly. This is simply not good enough.
It is such a shame to see another restaurant in London go this way.
Avoid large groups I guess.

Turned up for lunch with 8 people,no booking, saturday afternoon. Food fantastic, service good and the beer plentiful. All in all thumbs up.

My friend and I also had our handbags stolen from here on Saturday night. It was a very annoying way to end, what had been a fun evening. We had enjoyed the thai food and good vibe in the pub but that was all shattered in just 10 mins. While I have chalked up the loss of my purse, mobile and handbag to experience, what I can't understand is why this obviously targeted pub doesn't have better security like CCTV. The attitude of the staff seems to be defeatist and resigned to the fact that this type of criminal activity is part and parcel of their pub. NOT a turn on for punters.

My bag was stolen along with my friend's. The bar staff seemed disinterested and told me 'it happens here'. There is no CCTV or security staff on the door despite the fact the manager knows there is a problem. If you wish to drink here, bring nothing of value and be prepared for poor service.

I was there last Saturday for a few beers and some dinner with 8 friends. I was sitting near the cigarette machine at the big round table. My handbag was stolen off the back of the chair I was sitting on. I informed the two bar staff and neither seemed all that interested or apologetic (I suspect because it is such a regular occurence). So, a word of warning, ladies keep a close eye on your handbags. Whoever stole mine was bold enough to do it while I was sitting on the chair with a big group of friends etc.

Been visiting this place on a regular basis since last April. This is one of the best pubs in the area born out by the fact that its always doing a brisk trade. The bar staff are always friendly and never seem to display the grumpy attitude you get in other pubs regardless of how busy it gets. The whole place has a great atmosphere, food is good and fairly cheap for the area, all in all a good example of how pubs can be when they're well run!!! Other pubs take note.

I have been visiting this place to watch the world cup and its brill no matter what game is on you find supporters from both teams here and a great atmosphere. I also got to feel superior to the local American supporters, not often I meet people who know less about the offside rule than me. Great place all round.

Nothing special, its a bit of a March from any tube and odds on are, you won't get a seat,..does that Thai food shit etc etc. They used to have some huge colourful comedy seats out front which inspired some interest but,..overall, no,...no, don't bother with this gaff...

Visited this place with a few friends last Sunday and have to say what a great pub. Readers of my previous reviews will be happy to know I have found a true gem in Notting Hill. The American barmaid was friendly, efficient and a joy to talk with. The landlady likewise.
The Customers are generally young twenties and are the typical upper class set but dont let this put you off, as they are quite friendly and nice to look at! There is a Thai resturant upstairs which, although I couldnt try (need a reservation at most times) is rumoured to rival the Churchill Arms for quality of fare so high praise indeed. They have a reasonable selection of beers and ales and all were selling well. Other plus points, two plasma screens (positioned so all can see) for the armchair Chelsea fans, Hygienic well kept toilets and a genuinely pleasant atmosphere. But be warned it can be quite crowded and the service area is not the best situated so trips to the bar can be a struggle at peak times (oh come on youd be disappointed if I didnt whinge a bit) but all in all a good example of how pubs should be!!!

I used to come here a lot as it does the best Thai food I know. Recently however they admitted on their menus to using fish in the curries which had previously been marked as veggie. I don't eat fish so can't order their curries, but would not rate any of the other veggie dishes which all taste quite salty. They are honest for admitting to the fish though so good for them, but shame I don't like anything I can still eat!

One of the best pubs in London. Lovely Thai food both downstairs and upstairs (try the number 11 on the downstairs menu), friendly staff and great music. It gets a little busy with tourists on weekends but it can't be beaten from Monday to Friday.

They are always friendly and serve you quickly. The Thai food in the pub is OK, can be a bit greasy but the Thai restaurant upstairs is excellent. Can get noisy and crowded, esp in winter. In summer good to sit outside and watch the world go by...
