Popular bar in the middle of town with a late license. Usually full of students!
Theres often a DJ or live music on at weekends, tends to be a bit left-field though
More a cocktail bar than a beer drinkers' bar, although there were offers on bottles of stella. Food available during the day.

The main downside is cleanliness. The gents are filthy, broken locks on the doors, broken windows and graffiti. Tables and Bar surface don't seem to get cleaned that often either.

Decent, small cocktail bar. Their 'Milky Bar Kid' cocktail is amazing- like a chocolatey white russian.

Dusk is the perfect alternative to the mundane york "lads night out" and the host of atrocious mickelgate bars and clubs, Staff are friendly and there are great deals on Stellas for students. The music is quite good and it is an overall good venue for socializing with interesting people.

An "interesting" venue. During the day it is a 'rustic' cafe-bar and at night a loud rowdy student type bar with a great selection of cocktails. Food is good, though a little expensive, and lacks a more snacky low price selection. No real ale, the only beer is John Smiths nitro keg. Draft lagers are the usual naff cafe-bar offerings but they do have a good selection of bottles beers/lagers. A quirky place in that every time I have visited something appears to have broken down, the last time it was the heating. What makes the place so good for me is the staff, they are laid back (in an efficient sort of way), very helpful and very friendly. Worth a try when in York without a doubt.

Something of a 'wine bar' although the cocktails are 2 for 4 at certain times which is quite good. Otherwise a tad expensive.

Unfortunately this bar's reputation has gone downhill after an incident in the toilets whereby a young lady was trapped by a stuck lock. One member of staff suggested, ridiculously, that she climb out of the first floor window and crawl over the thin glass roof to the men's toilets nearby. It took at least half an hour until a member of staff finally allowed one of us to kick the door down.

not a bad place, full of "the beautiful people" but with ecent cocktails, good music and a late license which means it's full of barstaff from various pubs after dark... worth a look in the evenings, and it's two for on (4.00) on cocktails till midnight mon to thur

Situated next to the Blue Fly, both bars go hand in hand. It's student city, making for a great relaxed atmosphere and cheap drinks. Cocktails are great, although the menu doesn't tell you what's in them. Once gave them a cocktail garnish kit and turned the place into an 80's gay bar for one night - it was great!
The only downside for me were the local live music acts. After 30 minutes of the bearded hippy whingeing away to a guitar, I'd gone from being a happy chappy to analysing my life and it's misfortunes. Had to haul ass to micklegate to cheer myself up, and that's not a good thing...

No atmosphere whatsoever, okay if you like a coffee shop

Decent laid back place.Appears to be somewhere in between a bar and a pub-which works well.Attracts a slightly more upmarket punter-though they let me in! Welcome addition to Yorks pub scene.

A recently opened bar, that I have visited a few times. I visited just after it had opened and was very unimpressed at the service I was given, to the point that I almost didn't go back. However, it appears to have improved. Centraly located in town, it has a pretty good wine list and the menu looks pleasant. Has an upstairs, more restuarant-like area, and is available to hire for private parties. Is frequented by a mixed crowd of tourists, profesionals and students, making it a fairly nice place for a drink.
Despite all this I still have reservations...

This is a 'cool' yet friendly bar hanging local artists' work. Seating on the pedestrianised road and on a small decking area out the back.
Friendly, efficient staff; funky, inoffensive music at a reasonable level. Excellent food. Chilled during the day, very popular in the evenings. Extremely helpful and genuinely interested management make this a great place to visit again and again.
