Totally agree with fugglehops regarding the dry hopped lager. The Mill is a typical Adnams house, and very pleasant.. It is lifted by the fact you can take your drinks over the road and sit on the green... we bought some amazing smoked fish from one of the huts... all washed down with Southwold bitter..

After a walk along the sea front called in here for a bit of refreshment.
The outside of the pub looks very inviting and received a warm welcome from the pleasant bar girl.
Four beer pumps took up most of the bar - all Adnams.
Bitter, Broadside, Ghost Ship and the hoppy Jack Brand Mosaic, Adnams best ale in my opinion.

I did go against my principles and tried a small taster of lager (I know, sacrilege) Adnams hopped lager.
Serves me right, what a load of old gnats whatsit. Cold, fizzy and certainly no hop taste, in fact no taste at all. What do people get out of drinking lager over real ale?

Found a new Adnams beer in here: Fat Sprat, which Milady deemed to be excellent. My Southwold was well up to spec as well and we both raved over the game pie. Good beer and food, clean, friendly, jolly, what's not to like?

Morrismen, a pub where you are not critical of your fellow drinkers ! Was it empty ?

Seriously, on my first visit for a couple of years recently I found it pleasant enough. Decent sized seating area with some good outlooks but strangely remote from aforementioned small bar at the back. Beer quality good - Aldeburgh prices of course.

alterations now complete.Has to be the smallest bar in Aldeburgh.Hope it doesn,t get too busy,as they will never cope.

Nice pub with good beer but Very expensive, Fish & Chips is 10.99 pint of beer can be 3.70. Suspect there is Snob value in drinking in this pub.

Great pub. Friendly owners and staff. Adnams Bitter and Broadside always available, usually along with one of their seasonal brews (the very delicious Old Ale at present). Warm and welcoming atmosphere, even if there are few customers. Food is good and all home cooked - the fish comes from the fishermen on the beach opposite so is always of the best quality. Accommodation is also offered but I've never tried this as I live fairly locally.

A very pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. Well kept pints of Old Ale and Lighthouse were much enjoyed.

Two years ago, I liked this pub a lot. This year, I thought it had lost the plot. The owners and staff seemed to be the centre of their own attention, and it has become more cliquey. During a week in Aldeburgh, we stopped going there after a couple of days. Prices were as high as in the nearby Wentworth's hotel bar.

Traditional old ale pub oppostie the Moot Hall. Four ales on offer (all from the Adnams range) and the Old Ale I had was lovely. Also ate here and the Cornish pasty I had was fine. Staff were also friendly welcoming and attentive.

This is a relaxed easy going pub, i would suggest for the over 50's but is has a nice atmosphere and no rowdiness. I was intrigued by the woman with the cockatoo sat in the bar. We had reason to stay overnight recently, nice room (not ensuite though - but reflected in the price), nice breakfast (although the miniature sausage were a surprise. Forgive me for lack of info re beer - i drink wine - but its a nice atmosphere and non=threatening

This pub looks great from the outside and is situated opposite the oldest building in town, the Moot Hall. It's still good once you get inside but possibly not as good as it could be. The place is packed full of locals who are friendly but it would be hard to spend an evening here if you happened to be in an introspective mood as mixing in is clearly expected.

Friendly small pub, with good beer and lovely crab sandwiches.

Went here last week. No sign of any food at 12.30pm. Only one punter in and he left before us. We had some excellent Broadside but left to find food elsewhere!

We went to this pub a few times last year - new licencee's who are extremely pleasant - and the chap is also the chef and responsible for the food which is quite pleasant and reasonably priced. He also happens to be a member of the lifeboat crew (hence the patronage by said crew. The pub is small and cosy and the landlord/lady very pleasant and accommodating - i would recommend

On a recent visit to Aldeburgh we stopped here at the mill inn and were pleased we did. Friendly staff superb talkative barman & certainly the best kept pint in the town (we did them all!)Adnams is their real ale and crisp and clean is how it was unlike the cloudy alternatives we had elsewhere over the course of two days. The pub is local for the Aldeburgh Lifeboat crew & memoribilia lined the walls which was very interesting indeed. A must for all visitors to Aldeburgh.

Visited 30 April 05. Seaside pub, opposite The Moot Hall. This Adnam's house had Explorer on, which I think is a seasonal brew, as I hadn't seen it before. It was in good condition, and was a good lunchtime choice.

Lifeboat memorabilia line the walls, and authentic lifeboat men sit at the bar. limited food menu, but at least the fish comes straight off the fishing boats that line the shingle shoreline. The food arrived quickly and was tasty.

My betting is that this is a great local in winter time, with the hatches battened down. However we were just visitors, amongst many.
