user reviews of the Cherry Tree, Bromeswell

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Cherry Tree has been renamed "The British Larder" and is now very food oriented. It has won a number of local and, I believe, national awards for its cuisine. Not eaten there myself but usually looks fairly busy.

we waited over an hour for food for our group of 6 adults and 3 children and 1 toddler, we were told that as we were a large group the chef had served some of the smaller tables first. this was getting quite late at night and our children were very hungry. No appologies, all staff seemed to be under 25, so no great experience there, and the food was just mediocre. The Chicken and Pistacio noodles didn't have the nuts in it and the sauce was just lots of soy sauce which made us thirsty. Tables not very clean and grass play area was slightly over grown and there were plenty of thistles to attack you. would not recommend this place.

I don't know exactly what to say about the Cherry Tree. What a noticeable change in a year - the food is still great but there have been changes. The food now takes longer, the staff and management seem forever changing, the menu also seems forever changing and it looks like what was once a traditional, family-run pub now has no emotion or love put back into it. The Cherry Tree, in recent months, also seems unable to grasp the concept of the sort of people it should be aiming to welcome in its bar and it one or two cases, its work force.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch at this pub - lovely location, good ale, excellent service and outstanding food. The fish (sea bass and skate) was particularly well executed and the burgers amongst the best I have tasted. A bit pricey but sadly that seems to be the case right across Suffolk. Thoroughly recommended.

Absolutley love what they have done with the place! Good food, friendly service and a lovely atmosphere. Already booked for Christmas.

This pub has turned around, have always avoided it for the last five years due to the Fried Smell that has emanated from the premises on every passing..! Now the food is tasty and decent value and there are areas for eaters, people with children (with nice BIG garden) and a nice bar with well kept Adnams however poor offerings for the lager drinkers as the usual tasteless fare is served.

Staff were pleasant and the landlord made you feel very welcome worth a punt and a pint!

Liked the garden although staff unfriendly. Had to wait ten minutes to be served at the bar without any apology even though they stared at us plenty of times!

Food was ok would visit again for the garden.

Disagree with last users comments, especially over Christmas. One of the best Xmas Menus I've seen. I absolutely love thier homemade pies and desserts. I'm happy to recommend.

Food very bland, there are much better places to eat locally than this.

New Management, New Chef, New Menu proclaim the signs outside.

Well...The pub has just changed hands and I must say that it is definitely on the up.

I've just been there for a burger lunch. the burgers were from the nearby award winning Five Winds Butchers and it was served in fresh ciabatta bread.

I foresee a few more deserters from the terrible pub in Eyke heading that way....and rightly so.

Excellent!

Fantastic - Ok so the fire smoked a bit, but the atmosphere was excellent, and the food...memorable for all the right reasons, fairly priced and delicious. The staff could not have done more to make us welcome, and we will certainly be heading back next year

Nice looking place, but the garden was full of children who had waited too long for their food. When it came, the food was OK, but who wants to wait that long? I've tried it a couple of times - same story inside or out.

Food not very good and had to wait one and a half hours for it. Bar staff too busy smoking cigarettes to serve customers. None of the outside tables were cleared of dirty plates etc in all the time we were their.
