This pub and restaurant are not to bad but the service is unbelievabley bad to the point i will never return there again.
Basically i was given the wrong bill and paid in full and left the premises, then i had the guy chasing me telling me i had not paid enough money, when i told him i had paid he told me i had not and the bill i had received had gone missing.
Not a problem for me as i have no problem in paying it was just the way they made out it was my fault and tried to hide the bill i had received, just an apologie and we gave you the wrong bill would have been fine but to be honest they employ non english which is always going to be a problem as its never there fault.
1000 better places with better staff than this TRUST ME

I wrote two e mails to the manager and have had no reply. Here is what I wrote: -
Dear Manager

I was a guest of Bart's last night after being recommended to eat at your pub. I am writing to say that I am very disappointed with the whole evening especially travelling all the way from London.

First of all I ordered a Chicken Pate as the starter and it was served to me with toast that had been burnt. I have never been to any food venue where burnt toast is served and it was even placed on top visible to the waitress' eye. SEE ATTACHED PICTURE.

Secondly, I ordered a full rack of ribs. Well this was the fattiest and most tasteless stale meat I have ever had. In fact as I write this e-mail to you, I am not feeling the healthiest of people.

Thirdly when I came to pay, the bill was presented by a member of your staff and after placing my credit card on the plate which came with the bill, several staff walked passed our table several times and did nothing. After more than 10 minutes of waiting we went to the cashier ourselves to pay and then we were still told we had to wait a further period of time before we could pay.

The total bill was 46.30 and the food and service was no where near the value of this bill.

We sat at Table 9.

I look forward to a reply.

This is a fantastic restaurant, newly refurbished and under new management. The decoration of the place is fantastic and really bright and airy, its a really comfortable place to eat and drink. With the added bonus of a childrens play area in the garden.

I had the button mushrooms for my starter that were very nice and then the fillet steak with the chilli butter, my steak was cooked to perfection. The presentation was excellent and there was lots of it too. After such a large meal, I managed a dessert of chocolate brownie and ice cream.

This is not your ordenery pub grub, this is a restaurant, the food was cooked fresh, and delivered piping hot.

I would recommend the Rose & Crown to everyone.

worst pub i have been to.the bar staff was cold, just like the food, not tasty at all, cold in the middle,NOT COOKED... unpolite and unprofessional staff. best thing about this pub was the play area in the back for the kids to have fun.

This is the worst pub i have ever visited.i have always been a regular here up until recently since new management took over. The manageress(Mandy) does nothing but sit at the end of the bar drinking, she clearly has never ran a pub before if you ask me and as for her partner (Martin), if you can drag him out the smoking shelter and stop him smoking his cannabis you will probably recieve the worst customer service ever from him as every other word that leaves his mouth is a swear word. The only decent thing about this pub is the food. The chefs must be doing something right!!! If you have to visit this pub, aim to do it on mandys night off!!!

Nice pub, but 2.60 for a small bottle of Coke for the non-driver is beyond ridiculous!

Now a biker friendly pub. Great food & Tina (the gaffer) offers bookings for parties etc. Two trad beers on offer each week, also Guinness Extra Cold & the usual pub lagers/beer. Great range of coffee for the cold nights & Tea!! Good chef in the kitchen who knows there stuff...Over all...i would use this pub anytime of the week..& I mean that :)

Stop Press.... Pub just bought by the CookHouse Company and has had a makeover. Menu is standard with a reasonable 2 for a Tenner offer, I remain to be convinced that this once lovely pub will regain its former charm but you never know
