Nice enough pub - not so food orientated as many in the vicinity. The Breakwater brew was nice as was the Cotleigh Fox. Landlord seemed diligent enough - I don't think many people the other side of the jump seem to realise how disarming saying ' I'll be with you in a minute' is when they are doing some other task they need to finish before serving.

Very quiet when we turned up at midday on a weekday lunchtime, but that's to be expected. Good choice of beer, white wine nothing special but definitely drinkable. Partner had a ham sandwich - hand-carved ham and very fresh granary bread. I had a tuna jacket, and the potato wasn't so big that it outfaced you (as I've had in some pubs in the past), but was still big enough to be a good lunch with plenty of tuna. Staff were friendly, service was quick, place was clean, and it started to fill up as lunchtime rolled on. If you're early for the ferry, I can recommend it as a far better place to grab lunch than the docks.

Good choice of ale, and would be a nice winter pub to visit. Choice of 3 ales when I visited, in good condition. I've heard steak night is raved about.

Glad to see this place being appreciated. Found it by accident years ago, and it's still a bit of a hidden gem.

Visited recently with the family on a mid week evening and had two good pints of GK Abbot with a decent steak in front of the open fire. Friendly and worth an 8/10.
