Standard JDW house. Mixed clientele. So-so choice of ales. Handy if in the market place area.

Gave it another go while up for the footy again. Wow nothing has changed. The toilets still stunk and the girl who served me couldnt speak any english? This place couldnt be better situated for pulling in the punters. I can only assume the people who run it have the intelligence level of a turnip.

Popped in here for a nosey a couple of weeks ago around lunch time, having heard through the grapevine that the ale range and beer condition had improved.

There's a valuable lesson here: Don't listen to rumours.

Beers on offer were GK Abbott (I refuse on principle to drink any Greed Kerching product), Wychwood Hobgoblin and two guests from Shardlow - Table Topper and some other World Cup themed rubbish.

Asked for a taster on said Shardlow brews, established that both were so far gone as to be virtually out of sight (though sadly not out of smell) and promptly left again.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother!

Went in while up in Leicester for the football. Cheap beer didnt try the food.
Very dark interior a bit depressing. Decided i needed the toilet. Never been in one with such a smell of stale urine. Clearly management dont care about the comfort of the customer just the profits. Only good for a cheap pint.

Had some Old Peculier that was decidely off but the barmaid replaced it with no questions and asked what I would like as a replacement. As the OP had been more expensive than any of the other ales they served I would have liked reimbursement of the excess but she was busy. The atmosphere isn't great here, although the doormen seemed very friendly. On a Thursday night the entire upstairs section was shut off. Handy for the later opening times than many other places, but really not a great pub.

Went in for the first time a couple of weeks ago albeit at 11am in the morning. Typical Wetherspoons pub and seemed okay. Worthwhile if you want a cheap one!

AS AN EX-DOORMAN FROM THIS BAR YOU SHOULD STEER WELL CLEAR OF WHAT IS POSSIBLY THE WORST PUB IN LEICESTER. ABSOLUTE SH1T HOLE. FULL OF FOREIGNERS AND WANNABE HARD MEN.

A huge bar in the normal JDW style. Cheap drinks and food. The prices can attract a certain type of drinker from around the market place. They have seats and tables outside but, bizarrely, you can't take alcoholic drinks outside and sit at them.

While there's no question that the exterior is impressive, this remains nonetheless a deeply oppressive and unpleasant place to drink.

As has been already stated, this suffers from the usual punter issues caused by JDW's pricing policy, and the levels of violence here are, frankly, staggering.

Recently this has become one of the favourite haunts for Leicester's burgeoning Eastern European population, and as a result you can guarantee to see chaps merrily urinating in the street if you walk past of an evening - I don't know why this is so socially acceptable within that culture, but it seems to be something of a trade mark.

On my last visit the female friend I was drinking with was accosted by a black lad, who decided (after being politely told four times to clear off and leave us in peace) that it would be a good idea to punch me in the face repeatedly.

Fortunately, despite my pacifist nature I have a decent right hook, and he ended up KO'd a few feet away; I made a swift exit before the inevitable bouncer intervention and have not returned since.

Real ale quality was always dodgy at best, and line cleanliness poorly maintained.

If you want a fight, or possibly a minging, legless lass to cop off with, then this is the place for you.

If not then it probably isn't.

Not surprised at all that this place has mixed reviews below. Wetherspoons tend to do that, and especially ones in High Streets or Town Squares, which can attract a real mixed bag of clientele.
Ive been to many Wetherspoons up and down the country, and as they go I liked the Corn Exchange. Firstly its a fine old building, which has probably been saved from the wrecking ball by making it a pub, so full marks to Mr Wetherspoon for that. This one is bloody big with a central bar area and lots of seating to left and right, and then a very impressive mezzanine floor with lots of seating. The only downside was the strange Purple colour chosen for the dcor as mentioned below.
And secondly the food and beer were reasonable quality and cheep. Four Sunday roast and beer deals for 22.00, served promptly and efficiently, and you cant say fairer than that.
The downside ?. well , as usual the cheep beer and spirit prices attract those that would be better off attending The Priory. Even with it being 1.30PM on a Sunday Lunchtime I managed to be swore at by a bar fly who took umbrage at me trying to place my order too close to his pint. Although in fairness his mate later apologised to me and explained he was in the middle of a domestic argument by mobile and there were mitigating circumstances

Regularly receives bad press in the Leicester Mercury due to the number of fights and punters being glassed in the face there. Awful, terrible place. You deserve better. AVOID!

On my visit to Leicester I was on the look out for The Corn Exchange. It wasn't difficult, the building is huge and slap bang in the middle of the town centre. As I entered walking under an randomly placed bridge the first thing that hit me was how dark it is in there. Especially upstairs where I sat.

The bar upstairs is small but stretches outward giving the bar staff plenty of work space for quite a small serving area. Theres plenty of seating upstairs and in my opinion it was negeleted by the customers. Down stairs the bar is like an island and is very big. Theres lots of seating including sofas, its a very comfatable place.

As I said it is very dark because they've painted all the walls a very dark purple and the only real lighting comes from neon lights, but i can say this gives a great atmosphere at night. I noticed there wasn't a DJ booth but music was playing at midday which is unusual for Lloyds Bars as wetherspoons seem to be trying to make all the Lloyds bars more like wetherspoon pubs, this was great because it wasn't loud and it gave a nice back ground noise.

I really liked this place, it had a great layout and buzzing atmosphere. As its a Lloyds it had the great selection of drinks and good cheap food I've come to expect from the Wetherspoons brand. Put this on your list of pubs/bars to visit for your next trip to Leicester you won't be disapointed.

Vile. Full of aggressive chavs, neon lights, bad and loud music. When I was last obliged to go (a very cold december night) the air con was on full blast and we sat there shivering. There are other late licences in Leicester now, so you have no excuse to go there. Avoid.

Had one of my best nights ot here, period. Cheap drinks, loads of nice ladies. My friend and I met two lovely girls from Brazil, had a good time teaching them English, then back to theirs for afters... Shame they lived in Highfields... Oh, what a night!!! The foods ok too.

Stylish and popular, Lloyd's provides a central location in the city with cheap drinks and a good atmosphere. Hidden away in the centre of Leicester's market it's well worth a visit.
