Just been to the White Hart and had a very good pint pulled in the traditional way to accompany an excellent homemade pie.

The landlord told me he and the chef have been there since october and are intending to build the business back to what it was a few years ago.

Will definitely be eating there again.

Beer OK although Badgers is not my favourite tipple. Food OK but far too long in coming for a not very busy place.

Another return visit Sunday last. A few more people in than before I must say around 20 plus all dining. From what I saw the same style roast beef dinner came out so assume same chef. There was still the meagre vegetable offerings and my colleague noted that a lot of returning plates had food left on. Never the less, my Firkin Fox and Badger were aok but not quite sure but, think it came from a fixed elctric tap and, not on the hand pull.??
Didn't see the menu but, they had posted Valentines day menus all around. Think myself that due to location, this place would be better off, if it concentrated on a few excellent pub meals and proper pulled pints wether from the pull or the Barrel buts thats onlymy opinion..

Just had very delicious food at this pub. Plus the wine was excellent. Not much atmosphere as has just reopened but this felt like a little gem that would be better if more people gave it a try.

First pub visit of the new year, so opted for a Sunday Lunch,Only Pork and, beef on, Pork still cooking. the roast beef dinner was nice, well presented a little stingy on the vegetable front. We where the only two people in and this was the same when we left just after 1pm. The pubs still want too and, do charge ,s for a pint of squash and still looks like insipid water. With the meagre vegetable offering and see through squash let the occasion down. think it;s changed hands since my last visit.

Visited on Sat 25th of september. We wanted something special so i opted for the fillet steak 18.95 and my husband the rump steak 13.95.
Although the steaks were ok,we were extremely disappointed with the 'seasonal vegetables',that accompanied both mains, namely, three small lettuce leaves and a couple of carrot shavings.
We dont mind paying for good food but we left feeling as though we had been ripped off.
We will not be eating there again.

We went to The White Hart because it is gluten free, the cook had made the sauce with the wrong flour, luckily the manager had spotted it and i had to choose something else to eat, then the meal my daughter ordered they had ran out, so she picked something else, they had ran out of that too. I must say that my meal was lovely, but because i had to reorder my food it took about an hour to get our meals, by which time the other meals were a bit dry and tough. Will we go there again i might because mine was nice, but my wife will not.

Dropped in for a Sunday lunch today with a friend after a somewhat bracing local walk. Very welcoming crackling real fire.. and welcoming staff too (even though we hadn't reserved at an obviously very busy time).

Have to admit that the pint I ordered (not one I've had before) did taste a bit odd, a bit sharp, so I went back to the bar to ask if that's the way it was supposed to taste. Rather than fob me off, the landlord insisted that I come to the back room to see how the kegs were kept and to try some straight from the keg.. and then some fresh from a new keg. And indeed all of these tasted the same - certainly not the case of old beer being off.. just a slightly strange beer (to my taste buds anyway). At this point the landlord suggested I might prefer one of the darker beers and served up a pint of Tanglefoot (his recommendation, at no extra charge) which indeed was much more to my taste.

Must admit I was slightly embarrassed, but he was very good about it all and remained very friendly though the rest of our stay (and not in an obsequious manner.. quite cheeky at times really!) Clearly someone who had a passion for his beers, his pub and his customers. The roast leg of lamb was very good too.. with vegetables cooked suitably al dente rather than the mush I've had at so many village pubs. Very nice and crisply topped home-made fruit crumble too, even if I was pining for slightly thicker custard (but then in my book custard isn't thick enough until you can stand your spoon up in a jug of it!)

6 months on and, a return trip for the Sat lunch. Although 1st patrons in the place was very cold no heating on of any sorts as we could determine. Now laid up with table cloths so obviousley geared up fot the foodies although the Ale selection is quite good. On the food front the prices have crept up into the higher price range, for pub grub. We had the Turkish meatballs/Sausage and Mash/Cod and chips with garden peas. The meatballs were packed tight and just tasted of Turmeric and definetly not fresh. The Sausage was dry and had been pre-cooked probably a day or so earlier. The Cod was no special taste and had it's skin on,this to a chef tells me it's of the lower price scale end of purchasing and the garden peas, i pulled out 2 pieces of stork and dried out pea skin, this again from the lower end purchasing scale. All in All, if your going to charge top wack for your food make sure you've got top wack on the plate.Customers are not stupid and notably can see why in my last 2 visits this place has been on the empty side .

Fairly traditional country pub, with the emphasis very much on food. There's a small bar at the front for drinkers, but that seems to be about it. All the other tables were laid up for food even though it was fairly quiet on a recent Thursday visit.
Three Badgers beers on tap, plus Stowford Press cider. Personally I found the landlord a bit OTT. He was friendly enough (too friendly?) but more the sort of character you expect in a busy Italian restaurant than a country pub. I'm sure he was doing his best to be welcoming, but I have to say I think I would soon find this irritating if I was a regular. Sorry if you're reading this!

First time in over 2yrs or so since i went here and wasn't very pleased with any of it..Have to admit this time was a much better experience. Had a couple of nice pints of Badger followed by the Calfs liver lunch and, Blackberry and Apple crumble. Pigged out there then.. Must say a lot better all round with local produce at the fore front, definitely going in the right direction....

This pub had an excellant choice for 'gluten free' diners when our party of four visited recently. Although it was early in the evening on a Saturday the staff were very polite and helpful in aiding our choices from the menu and repeated each selection individually to confirm our requirements before passing the order to the kitchen. When the food came shortly afterwards it was of very good quality and all as we had ordered. The internal surroundings were very pleasing to the eye, definitely one to return to when next in the area.
