Disappointing. Was looking forward to this but it is a bit bleak.

Having passed this place enough times, thought I would go through the garden gate and see what it's like.
Warm welcome from three of the pub dogs almost before I had got through the door.
Central bar with seating around it in a horseshoe. Seemed to be mainly regulars there when I arrived.
Two TV screens, one on either side of the pub, showing different sport.
As for the important stuff - the booze - I was presented with a choice of two ales, Directors and Young's Bitter. Went for a pint of the latter which was a very reasonable £2.80 a pint and perfectly drinkable.
Decent enough local boozer.

the worst double glazed windows I have ever seen.

It's been done up! Unfortunately though, they've removed the curtains and installed some really bright lighting, so you can see what's inside without having to bother going in.

The shellfish van has gone. So it's not all bad.

still up for lease from enterprise inns, for an estimated ingoing of 50.000,mrs man at the bar, used to live just over the road from the hoth,in fact her parents still do,this could be a cracking local, with the right people running it,the only competion in the area is the royal oak, europa and of course the bell, but if you read previous postings on these pubs you will come to see that they are all having problems at the moment, and after saying all of that it comes down to the fact that it is an enterprise lease, who in there right mind would pay that sort of money and let enterprise dictate how you run your own? pub.

I went in there on a pub crawl of Molesey a few months ago. I had no expectations. But i was actually really pleasantly surprised. The chap behind the bar was a real gent and i'll certainly try to go in there a bit regularly. Thumbs up actually. Looks CAN be deceiving afterall

I have lived in Molesey for a LONG time and until this year had never stepped foot in here despite at one point living the next road along. Although my experience wasn't terrible I don't think I would be making a regular appearance. It's stuck in a time warp with the same old customers and I don't think has any intent to change.

I was staying with my dad who had recently moved into the area. I visited this pub twice and each time found the locals very friendly and they made me feel very welcome. The pub is definately full of characters.I would visit here again.

It happens all the time. You move to Molesey. Your local is the Hotham. You think 'I know, let's try that pub on the corner, it might not be as bad as it looks'. It is. You don't go there again.

Does need a lot of investment and tender loving care to bring it up to normal pub standards

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS PUB,APPROACH IT WITHOUT BEING TERRIFIED,YOU WILL BE OK.THE CUSTOMERS ARE FRIENDLY & THE LANDLORD IS ONE OF THE MOST FRIENDLY YOU WILL FIND IN THIS AREA.
WTFDOG - 25 Oct 2005 15:20
Without doubt, this pub and The Cannon are the roughest pubs in the area. Your choice.

i love this pub it has got a lovely atmposphere and there are lovely welcomeing people for anyones scene !
i have been going in there for 2 years now and so far i havent wanted to step foot in any other pub.The is a very goog kareoke dj wich plays every other thursday!very entertaining. There ar lots of new faces that come in as they have heard good comments about it .It is a nice day on sunday as there is snacks and potatoes and sausages welcome to anyone. it is a great pub !

The Hotham has been holding karaoke evenings recently which have been a huge success. The pub has been packed out each time, and it has brought loads of new faces in too, plus a great atmposphere. These nights consist of a total mixture of people, from those that can sing bloody well, to those that are tone deaf but get up and have a go anyway, to those that are just there to sing along from their bar stools and enjoy the music. Whatever your musical ability, next time you see a karaoke night advertised on the big board outside the pub then pop in and have a drink. Regardless of your previous views of the pub, or what you might have heard - give it a go as I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

Tacky pub for Tacky people. The current rating of 2.8 is extremely generous.Just look through the window....turn around, then go left to the Oak or right to the Europa. You have been warned!

Good beer and nice selection of shorts (some never seen in pubs before).
The Lord entertains two types of punter, 1;Salt of the Earth type and 2;Harmless veteran piss-heads, (one type generally provides the amusement for the other).
Sundays are popular and many families with kids turn out for the free bar snacks (roast potatoes and good sausages).
Karaoke nights, when they happen, are not to be missed. Quality!
It has been my Local of choice for three years.
Definitely worth giving it a go despite the out of date reputation.

Fab pub full of friendly characters. To say the place had a "clique" isn't really accurate - everyone does know each other, but newcomers are by no means outsiders, and new faces are welcomed and valued. I have always felt totally safe in the pub, as trouble/violence is not tolerated in any form, and although some real "characters" frequent the pub, everyone, from my experience, is perfectly friendly and harmless, and all there for the same reasons - to have a few drinks and enjoy themselves! Pub is always spotlessly clean too, which makes a nice change from a lot of pubs where your shoes stick to the floor and your ashtray overflows! It gets my vote!

I'm built like a prop forward but I wouldn't go in this pub. 'nuff said.

Scary!! Go to the Europa!
ALEdrinker - 4 Dec 2004 19:35
This place will scare you. Lots.
Scotty boy - 28 Apr 2004 13:10
I am a local, and I object to that comment!
It's more accurate to say the place has a small clique which give off a pretty scary feeling. My singular visit there confirmed that I would rather open a tinny at home than venture into the place again.

This is a local pub for local people.
