Went here recently for the first time in around 30 years!
One fairly large 'L' shaped room with one end given over to an open mic session.
Less than half full but a decent atmosphere.
Pleasantly surprised to discover 'Trappers Hat' from the local Brimstage Brewery was available and in good order.

Contrary to rumour, the Hilbre Court is very much open for business and in good order. The landlord, staff and customers are friendly and welcoming. Best of all, If you are a real ale drinker, you will find the that the beer is kept in excellent condition, rivalling that of many of the pubs in St. Albans, the home of CAMRA itself. This pub certainly deserves to succeed in this its latest reincarnation and I, for one, hope that it long continues to serve fine ales.

This pub has an advert in the local paper stating that it is now open and has new management. The advert mentions food is available but interestingly does not mention beer at all!

This pub looked closed when I passed recently.

This pub looks as though it needs a real injection of care and attention. Indeed, with such dreary decor and ancient, mangy carpet flooring ( there is a dog who leaves hair all over the place - yuck!) it is not surprising that the place lacks any kind of atmosphere. There is a distinct lack of friendliness in the air and I wouldn't revisit. Food wasn't great either.
There are plenty of great pubs in the area whose facilities and character surpass this pub on all counts. I'll be heading their way...

Well, if it wasn't for the apparent bullying of staff, dog hair from the owners dog sticking to your clothes, a dead atmosphere and dank, dreary decor, I might recommend this dive.

As it is, the staff appear stressed, and having met the owners and management I could see why, and this leads to a crap atmosphere. There is an uncomfortable feeling bred by the security cameras monitored ceaselessly by the obnoxious manageress. The food is utter garbage, though the beer is passable. The 'beer garden' is cramped.

All in all, there are so many establishments offering a warmer welcome and superior facilities within a 10minute walk of the Hilbre that this really isn't a venue worth visiting. Steer clear unless you're really gasping for a beer.

We were there November 08, just found this site.
Welcomed by all from Rod & Lee (publicans), the locals including the Vicar & Tarts on Saturday night, Rolf Harris (joke) to the trivia caller on Sunday night, everybody.
We ended up there 4 out 5 nights in town, the other family commitment. It is a warm friendly pub, even safe for us aussies.
GO THERE ENJOY.

This is dated December 2008.
The Hilbre Court is now under New Management (I am not one of them).
It has had some well deserved money and time spent on it and the end result is a clean, comfortable and very friendly pub.
This is one Pub in West Kirby that is worth a look at.
The Management and regulars are friendly, the beer is spot on and the food is unbelievable as well as the prices.
Live bands are brilliant, not over powering either, so dont think that it will be too noisy and spoil your night.
Do not believe me! Well go try it out. You will not be sorry and you will go back again.

60's style pub with "underground" car park. Real ale and laid back. More life in a tramp's vest however if you visit during the day.
