This place never seems to get the right landlord/tenants in.? I didn't go before because of the write ups, then it had an exterior refurbish, I finally went yesterday with a friend who said he'd always wanted to try it.
Not much to shout about, I mentioned to my friend that they had Gem ale on, and without a nod or a wink the Barman in T shirt and shorts began to pour out this drink and place it in front of me. ( good job I wasn't a lager drinker) £6.70p for the two pints, then he had to have a chat with the barmaid before returning with our change... About 8 people were dining, the menu nothing to write home about, but the T shirt shorted barman was waiting on also.??? I noted that we were the only two drinking beer, out of the 5 offerings on the bar. The people in there were either in work clothes or sports clothes apart from the diners, and and two other couples. My friend drank up very quickly and asked to leave, enough said.....

Called in after meeting recently. Agree with previous reviews - good beer, including 2 from Cottage, and a pleasant crowd, including a sports team. Menu looked good too. Another visit needed, to eat as well. Just about enough room in the car park on my visit - obviously a successful place.

Reputedly the oldest pub in Clevedon, and also one of the best. Good selection of beers with four or five on hand pump and a couple of barells behind the bar. Also Thatcher's Gold, Thatcher's Heritage and Stowford Press ciders.
Useful beer garden and patio area.

Decided to give this GBG 2009 pub a try whilst in the area yesterday. And very glad we did. Courage Best, Otter Head and MacOtter on offer - had the latter, a well-kept and rather enjoyable 5% - wished we could have stayed for longer and taken up the landladys offer of the recently refurbished B&B! 8/10

Very good beer, excellent fairly priced pub grub and copious range of bar snacks. If it's sunny the garden is great and play area is sufficiently far from tables so kids can play without disturbing beer quaffing parents. Yay!

Nice traditional old pub, well worth a visit.

Wilko92 has it about right.
Very sound pub, with good value grub, too.
Visited this week [pending a funeral, unhappily].
Genuinely good pub.
Nice ales, apparently very well kept. Has a Casque Mark.
They do house wine, by the glass or bottle too.
Menu is good - and the portions are jolly solid.
Does 'Specials', too - e.g.: - Thursday and Friday evenings [after 1800 hours] Fresh Fish Specials.

Had Hobgoblin, a GWR beer, and others on.

For interest, someone available to the pub does excelllent wood sculptures, including a 'Sun-Flower-Chair', that will sit in the garden.
Must be an eight - maybe - uh - a nine!

Does food but still remains a pub. Lovelly beer garden with boule pitch/course/court or whatever it is called.
Nice few real beers on including guest ales.
Happy efficient staff.
Menu fairly basic(mostly with chips and salad) but excellent value and home cooked.
