On my return to Macclesfield after a 9 year hiatus, this was the first of 8 pubs I tried in the town. It was the one closest to the town centre. Apart from the barmaid, it was all blokes. Some of the language was somewhat suspect. A couple were playing either dominoes or cards in one corner. The ale range was disappointing - Bass & Saddle Tank. I was encouraged by advertisements for some kind of cider festival. Alas the cider on offer was Somersby's. Disappointing.

A good traditional pub. It has a strongly local feel and has definite locals corners, but that's no bad thing. Decently served beer and generally pleasant. Even better when the open fire it lit. Can get very busy but that perhaps reflects how good it is.

Wow!! Called in today. Everything you could wish for in a pub. Cosy feel, happy clientele (and Macc were relegated today), Helpful bar staff, books or papers to read. A cracking pint or two in this case! Both me & the missus loved it. I wished this oub was round the corner from me. We live quite a few miles from this place but it shall always be on my calling card in future, Highly recommended. Would have scored a 10 but will reserve judgement in case I dropped in a a good day!

Eleven of us called in on a sunny Friday afternoon and sat in the beer garden drinking great pints of Black Sheep brought out to us by a smiling barmaid (who incidentally several of us would like to marry!). Heaven! Great pub.

Great quirky little pub, always a good choice of ales, gets busy at night time, big roaring fireplace and comfy seats. Free pool aswell.
This is probably the best pub I've visited in Macc, always lovely ladies behind the bar too, which is nice. TT Landlord on tap last visit.

I couldnt find the jukebox, but to be honest my time and money would have been wasted. It was a joy to sit and enjoy the random delights that were playing.I never thought I would hear Bongwater, the theme from Rentaghost and a whole load of other songs I had forgotten about.
Music aside...I cant rave enough about this place.Staff,Beer,Fishtank in the gents....all fantastic. The most individual pub in Macclesfield. I left feeling inspired and full of hope. Macc isnt that bad at all!

A fantastic, friendly pub with great bar staff and a good selection of beer for all tastes. Always lively and with an atmosphere at any time of the day. Also the best (only) pub for watching rugby in Macc, the world cup was indeed an awesome experience...

...I mean 10 stars on the Macc scale, not 5 (see below).

This is my old local from when I was under-age. I liked it then but as with a lot of macc's pubs its nicer nowadays. Its also busier than ever but remains a chilled out traditional pub with wicked atmosphere. I would recommend that any pub crawl in Macc should begin here. 5 stars (on the Macc scale).

One of the most friendly pubs in Macclesfield. A great pint of Bass filled to the brim with flavour. Benson the Bouncer is not to be missed either

This place is a bit of a rugby pub, but it's friendly enough and you're more than likely to meet one or two 'local characters' on a visit here...
