This site is really going downhill quickly. Just ban this arsenal/paul 36 and ban his ip address so he can't set up another account.
Thelittleman - 17 Jan 2016 10:54
I thought I may as well have my say on ArsenalFan36...but now I find I'm speechless the more I see of he/she/its 'reviews'! :-)

I didn’t have much time here, as I was just changing trains, but I’m afraid this came across as one of the more tired Wetherspoons, greatly in need of refurbishment. There was a generally dowdy air to the place, and I noticed their list of “available guest ales” bore no relation to what was actually on sale – must have been a few days out of date. The toilets could also do with refreshment – and they are at the end of a rather pokey passge. Can’t remember much about the number of range of beers, but I do recall I had the Tring Tea Kettle Stout

AF36, you forgot the newspapers!
beerpilgrim - 28 Dec 2014 14:32
Arsenalfan36 seems to prefer Wetherspoon pubs so almost by definition he is a retard. The 35 probably refers to his IQ.
Humour him, he's not quite right in the head
cellarbuoy - 12 Nov 2014 19:42
ARSENALFAN36'S insanely repetitious teetotal comments on this site are symptomatic of marked retardation. So it's not surprising that one such entry reads.......Today Wednesday 8th October after i had Brought the Sun in Tesco ...
If he's like that on orange juice and pepsi, for God's sake keep him away from
the booze.

Arsenalfan have you escaped form a psychiatric unit why dont you go and write your pointless drivel on some bell end site like twitter where it fits better

After visiting a really nice ‘Spoons in the Bear I headed onto this “modern” pub close to the football ground.

It was pretty busy with the football crowd but as the pub is very close to the ground I wasn’t surprised.

5 ales across the 10 pumps with 2 of the pumps dispensing ciders.

Open windows onto the Main Road give the pub an “airy” feeling and didn’t make it seem so busy and stuffy

4 bar staff working quickly and keeping all punters “watered”.

Decent enough ‘Spoons but not one I would rush back to.

Lloyds wetherspoons bar. Pumping music great for getting you up for a night out, not so good if you're trying to chat late at night after going to the cinema.
Good selection of beer and ciders and food is good quality for a spoons.
Most of the proper alckis go to The Bear wetherspoons down the road so more of a younger crowd, so a cut above your normal wethers.

Hmmm.. Its a weatherspoons pub, functional but no atmosphere.. Beer ok, service ok but too many machines and just a big open room... Everything that you expect from Weatherspoons but nothing more..so cant complain just not my cup of tea
puddacat - 18 May 2012 17:38
Typical Weatherspoons pub. Large selection of drinks, several TV screens, lots of offers and decent food. Large open pub which is quite popular
buzzbee - 8 Jul 2011 12:28
Great selection of ales, friendly fast service(yes you heard that right and its a spoons!!),sadly very quiet for half 7 on a thurs night, all i can think is maybe people were down their newer venture the bear, anyways very pleased this place is still keeping standards high,7/10

I can't say I thought too much of Maidenhead's pubs on my Sunday afternoon visit. This was my third (the first two - the North Star and the Craufurd Arms) are not listed on here. This one was a typical Wetherspoons establishment. It had a slightly better selection of beers than the Windsor one I had visited on Saturday. But sadly the interior of this one was the bog standard open-plan and featureless kind. A small fenced off yard at the rear looked equally dull. The beer range was Daleside Old Lubrication, Loddon Forbury Lion, Fullers Summer Ale, Richard Chennells Zulu Ale, Greene King Abbot Ale and Ruddles Best. However there was no real cider, apart from bottles. Westons Marcle Hill and Biddendens Bushells pumpclips were both on display. But neither was available. On the plus side, the guy that served me was cheerful and fairly knowledgeable about his drinks range (something I don't always find in Wetherspoons).
blue_scrumpy - 25 Jul 2010 19:29
Sterile atmosphere, grumpy staff, a sea of red carpet and matching furniture (to hide blood?) and littered with menus.

Full of single mums with their chav-clad boyfriends shouting down their mobile phones, 'Innit mate, wotevvah!' - is the Army recruiting again yet?

Not for grown ups.

Pubspymaster - 26 Apr 2010 11:21
Your standard Wetherspoon (Lloyds Number 1) fare in a town centre. Stack 'em high and sell 'em cheap. Can be nice on a Saturday afternoon as they do serve good real beer, if you don't mind tramp/chav dodging. Friday/Saturday night it is rammed with young revellers, then empty again by 10pm as they go elsewhere.

I have revised my earlier view on this pub following a few post work trips. The last of these had me pretending not to notice (along with the bar staff) a very refreshed chap wave a chair above his head, break into a dance and then playfully rough up one of his friends who seemed obliged to agree with everything he said in case the chair made a reappearance. This may be understandable behaviour at closing time. However it was 5:15. Beer was fairly cheap (not cheap enough for my friends above who wanted lager at 1.50/pint) but a small premium can find safer and more pleasant environs within five minutes.
stevosgloriosus - 28 Oct 2009 23:33
This pub doesn't offer much 'warmth' and that's probably due to the dull lighting and the pondlife floating around. This is my second visit and the beer has been good both times - the long bar and the one or two staff serving don't help with the waiting times though. At about 1.90 for a good (& interesting) beer it gets my vote.
Booze_Allen - 19 Oct 2009 17:32
Better than average Wetherspoons, the beer was well kept, local and interesting. Fairly slow service, but more because of their success rather than incompetence, the clientle probably don't help!
Abteilung - 17 Oct 2009 22:21
Not bad for a Wetherspoons. Real ale is good and well kept. Bar staff were good but could do with making it look that they wanted to be there. Clientele not bad except for a couple of loud mouthed gobshites
Wee_Paddy - 18 May 2009 12:42
Busy, good young crowd of an evening for a Wetherspoons (not just piss stained winos).
As usual for a Wetherspoons go for the local ale, Marlow Rebllion always fine if on, and good luck getting served when busy!
beefbeerandbaps - 23 Sep 2008 14:55
Not a bad pub. Well kept beer. Usual Wetherspoon problem is that the cheap prices in an afternoon attract the ageing and loopy.
bedfont - 10 Aug 2008 12:25
Good pub with friendly staff and excellent range of well priced ales (7.20 compared to a mighty 16 for the same round in the White Hart elsewhere in town). Busy mixed crowd on a Saturday night. Why go anywhere else in the Town Centre between 8 and 11?
stevosgloriosus - 10 Feb 2008 22:49
dirty pub, can it really be so dirty by lunchtime or is that the dirty ashtrays from the previous night? will it survive the smoking ban?
anonymous - 17 Jun 2007 16:10
good selection of cheap beers including 5 local brews from the likes of Rebellion,Loddon etc. Usual gripes as a non-smoker without children i'm not really catered for - choose which discomfort i like the least...
moclips2002 - 16 Feb 2007 18:10
Weatherspoons pub, the usual great range of real ales, good food at reasenable prices. No smoking area, children allowed up to 6pm.
Roy Palmer - 24 Aug 2006 17:35
appears 2 have changed to a LN1 now.
fat_beer_badger - 1 Jun 2006 14:37
Good cheap place to start the boozing night. very busy in the evenings but being a weatherspoons has no music.
