The Royal Oak, Curthwaite

in defense of royal oak. it's impossible, and i know this as a pub owner, to please the sunday dinner lot. Mostly they like the roasts so 'slow roasted' they literally fall apart ( good for the false teeth wearers) but never a week passes without some moaner. The royal oak curthwaite is a nice restaurant, not a pub, lovely food, bit scatty presentation, but still nice. popular with pensioners and nothing wrong with that. :)

The Ship Inn, Thursby

We have been going to this pub for years, despit all it's ups and downs. For the last half of 2009, thoroughly enjoyed the food, staff, and company. What has happened? it's open again and I feel like swearing. would now be better closed and we will never go back. what a shame. another pub turned over to 'professionals' who will see it closed permanently very soon.
