The Buffet Bar, Stalybridge

The buffet bar is located on the platform of Stalybridge Railway Station. Continually rotating ale choices along with excellent lagers, topped off by wonderfully ecletic decor in an eccentric location - this pub really is hard to beat. Plus the staff and mix of locals/regulars make everyone feel welcome. So much so, that it is quite likely you'll miss your train home. Highly recommended.

The Beer House, Manchester

The superb range of well kept beers cannot be faulted and the landlady's and landlord's friendliness and expertise cannot be questioned. However, the pub is let down by terrible decor and the toilets look like something out of trainspotting. On my last visit a barman was also particularly unhelpful and sarcastic when my friends and I ordered a large round.

That said, this pub is definitely worth a visit despite being a bit off the beaten track. Plus if you are on a pub crawl can easily incorporate the nearby Marble Arch. With the beer range now in place the pub will hopefully get a bit of a makeover soon or else it will forever remain a rather sparsely populated, middle-aged, white man's pub.
