Dog and Duck, Outwood

I visited this pub for Sunday lunch on 2nd January 2010 with six adults and six very young children. We could not have been made more welcome. This pub has been refurbished and is under new management. The landlord is a really super chap and we enjoyed a fab Sunday roast there. This place will really catch on in it's lovely location with the garden and pond at the back. Best of all for me was the fact that this landlord has had the common good sense to provide a nut roast for us veggies. I am SO bored of watching everyone else eat a Sunday roast and being palmed off with a plate of pasta or risotto. On this occasion I was able to tuck into the same delicious meal as everyone else but mine was a Cranberry and Orange Nut Roast. We really had a super lunch and will be going back. I would just like to reassure people who might be put off by me mentioning so many children that we were seated far enough away from other diners so as not to be a nuisance (I hope!) and it is certainly not a pub overrun with noisy families. Highly, highly recommended.

The Rising Sun, Milland

What a refreshing sight! A fantastic veggie roast dinner! To be precise, Gartin Field Mushroom with Caramelised Onions & Peppers and Stilton, Yorkshire Pudding, Roast Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables and Pan Gravy !! 100% vegetarian! I have been here twice before and this is my third visit. When I contacted Ben, the landlord, I got an immediate and super friendly response regarding my veggie requirements. It is always a pleasure to visit this pub and I highly, highly recommend it. To veggies, carnivores and fish eaters alike!

The Royal Oak, Crockham Hill

Many an enjoyable, memorable lunch, afternoon and evening has been spent in this pub. The staff are fantastic and the stress of the day just drains away as you set foot in the door. For a beautiful old village pub with good ale, food, fun and friendship you need look no further. Every village needs one of these. Don't change a thing!
