The Grid Inn, Southfields

I am genuinely shocked by the last review. The comment about the Grisd having a bad reputation in the past is odd. I have lived on Replingham road now for two years and at first I thought the Grid was a typical local working man's pub. However, after two years I can honestly say it is a haven for the truly appauling members of this community. I am self employed and often work from home. Becuase of this I am privvy to the activity of the Grid as I live within sight of and earshot of conversations which originate in both the Grid and its neighbour the Garage. The difference between the two is the standard of conversation. The disgusting language that many of the customers at the Grid too frequently spout makes even my seasoned ears cringe. And as for the fighting I have witnessed in the past two years makes me nervous even about writing this review. It is not uncommon to see the police outside the Grid and I have on occassion considered calling the police myself. Perhaps the large pub chains should think about investing in publicans who are old enough to shave and understand what it means to exercise a duty of care to not only their patrons but also the community they operate in.
