Bridgewater Hotel, Worsley

This is a great pub and my 'local', if anything is. Often much maligned as a result of history, but Cath is dragging it up by its bootstraps and its is masses better than it has been for many years! Good, sensible, VFM food; great coffee; and an ever changing range of real ales - all at reasonable prices.
Very children (till 9pm) and female-friendly, this is rapidly becoming a good cross between a smart watering hole to meet friends / do business just off the M60 and a good solid 'local', patronised by a range of people from upmarket Worsley as well as the council estate up the road.
Cath is aware of all the pubs 'foibles' and works tirelessly to address them.
If anything, the food and beer have improved, speed of service if getting better, the (new) staff are all much more friendly and noting is too much trouble.
I would recommend this pub to anyone, and if you're someone who thinks any less of it than I do, go speak to Cath/her duty manager (probably either her son or daughter) and let them know what you are unhappy with - they'll soon make it right and ensure it doesn't happen again.
A great 'village pub', born out of the ashes of the horror it had been allowed to become by previous landlords - and so much better than having buldozed it and built yet more trendy flats!
