The Ravensbury Arms, Mitcham

Having just returned from the Ravensbury the only positive thing that I can say is that the beer was just above average. The food however is a completely different matter, I know that I went to a local pub and not a gourmet restaurant but I would still expect a certain level of standards. The starter took nearly 40 minutes to arrive and was a complete abomination to baked camembert. I really dont believe that the Ravensbury has a head chef, just a chief microwave operator. The vegetarian tart was a disgrace and looked like it have been gently cooked under a 30watt bulb, several times. The pub is sited in an awkward location but they have done the best that they can with the room that is available, it is clean and bright with a very large summer garden. Admittedly I went there on a Friday night but it looked like the sort of place that you would go to with a group of friends on your scooters and discuss the latest Jeremy Kyle show, of the four members of staff that were on, two of them couldnt be any more helpful, always being pleasant, efficient and welcoming. The other two stropped around the place like a sulking teenager, and the young lady that served us our food slammed the plates down from such a height, that would make any owner of a greasy spoon cafe proud. I will never cross the threshold of this establishment again.
