The Ship Inn, Haskayne

Ok - firstly i was rather excited to find out that the Ship had reopened, used to spend a lot of lovely evenings with husband/children/dogs sat by the canal. Phoned up yesterday to check on food times and was told quite brusquely food finished at 7.45. Made a mad dash there after work and arrived at 7.10 to be told at the bar that food was finished because it was busy!!! Spoke to the new lady!!! owner who agreed to serve us as i had phoned earlier but she was turning away other customers who had read the menu ( stating food till 8 ) and sat having a drink before ordering. Well no food for them, the owner explained to me that 2you have to draw a line somewhere or we'll be here till midnight " Silly me, i thought that was the point, serve people at the times they want to eat and make some money at the same time ??

Oh well at least my family got fed - combo platter to start , bit into the deep fried mushrooms to find they were still frozen solid inside. Main courses menu offered anything you like as long as it heats up in microwave with chips. Ham and eggs were vile, boiled ham looked like beef it was dark brown and curled up at edges ( i was sort of expecting gammon i suppose ) jacket potato microwaved very pale quite hard inside, childs sausage looked about 20 years old.......

Drinks, well white wine spritzer - i was given half a glass of soda and a small bottle of wine so when the wine was poured in glass was very watery with all the soda. Coke served for children in small wet half pint glasses. Guiness was fine.

Hope this review helps if anyone is thinking about a pleasant family night out there ( we may even see you, we were offered a free meal next time in view of the above complaints !!! )
