Lovely buildling, excellent ambience and attentive service. Food was good and at reasonable price. Brought my colleagues there and they all fell in love with the place at once.

The Stickle Barn Tavern, Great Langdale

I would just state the facts here. Went in for a pint at around 10pm Saturday 10th April after a long day walk. I was joined by 2 others (white persons) and they got served before me. After those 2 punters' been served, the 1 barmaid wnt out to collect empty glasses, another went to check the pump and the third one headed straight to the kitchen. I only got served when one of the barmaids returned from our glass collecting round. I have studied, lived and worked in this country for over 15 years and been to pubs from Wick in Scotland to Truro in Cornwall, and I can tell the difference between busy barmaids and just being unwelcomed. Really regretted not going to the Hikers bar attached to the Old Dungeon Ghyll hotel instead.
