We went recently. We were in the ODG but the service was so lousy we didn't order food and gave the Sticklebarn a try. I was impressed by the friendly welcome then a great beer selection and really lovely snack. I heartily recommend this pub. mineisalandlord - 22 Oct 2011 19:13
Excellent spot for morning breakfast (full english with tea/coffee for £7) with a good choice of beer and fair choice of food for the evening. As mentioned previously the menu is fairly uninspiring compared to the nearby ODG, which seems to have a more home made feel and certainly compared to The Britannia in Elterwater. The beer though is always on good form and the staff, notably the manager, couldn't be more welcoming. BothamsAshes - 5 Aug 2011 16:30
A bit smarter and touristy than the ODG , but great beer and food with a much appreciated wood burner roaring away after a tab up the hills. Dog friendly(free biscuits, just a donation to the mountain rescue) and good seating outside, just need to solve the wiff of the sceptic tanks, but still a top pub. so good we never made it to the New dungeon ghyll next door. ian241 - 2 Jun 2010 21:38
A jolly decent cup of tea served here. Everything very friendly and helpful. Good value food. Plus you can see the weather report to confirm why you couldn't see beyond 2 metres on Pike O Stickle... SheikhInvakh - 23 May 2010 23:46
Great place for an after-walk pint. Unspoilt bare / traditional interior. Lovely pint of Black Sheep bitter. Also had a very nice coffee from the hotel next door. Old_King_Cole - 15 May 2010 18:32
