Several beers to choose from - three Jennings plus four others of which I tried Kirby Lonsdale Stanley's and Hawkshead Bitter. Both were in reasonable condition, but I found it a bit strange that all four of the guest beers were 3.7% or 3.8% in strength - you would expect more variety. Food was ok but nothing special. Staff were friendly and service was good. It filled up quickly on the Friday night that we were there and you need to get there early to get a table if you are eating Thirstyone - 28 Apr 2012 00:38
Tourist trap pub but good beer. pheon - 14 Jan 2012 15:52
My favourite pub of this year's trip to the Lake District. Very good beer, food and service. Car park is too small though! Psi - 31 Oct 2011 10:03
What agreat pub! Beer and food are fantastic. Yes it can get busy but it is worth waiting for a table and expect someone else to move in as soon as you leave. Tina, Gary and the rest of the staff are friendly and welcoming. Everyone is very efficient, polite and helpful. cookie53 - 16 Apr 2011 09:20
Miserable staff, por service, even when not busy. Food average on a good day (at best). Decent range of beers but pub is badly let down by management and bar staff. Unfortunately there is not much choice round here but the Britannia has a much better atmosphere - which is why it's always packed. Avoid Wainwrights if possible. bingo999 - 6 Nov 2010 18:54
