The Exchange Bar, Hawick

A well run family pub tucked away in Hawick's historic centre and boasting elaborate cornices and wood panelling. Recently introduced real ales which are proving a huge success and is shortlisted for CAMRA Good Beer Guide inclusion.

The Town Arms Inn, Selkirk

I know this pub well and also think that the ub Tester's comments are rather unfair. This is a very traditional local's local and is geared more to men rather than women, though ladies are welcome. True, it did use to be in the Camra GBG, but real ale was withdrawn following bar refurbishment which restricted the available space; however, the pub has just started stocking bottled ales so the next step will depend on demand.

There's few pubs left in Selkirk just now, so please don't knock the ones who are not pretending to be anything their not!
