The Unicorn Hotel, Somerton

After getting a lukewarm welcome from disinterested bar staff, I almost fainted on the beer prices in here. Food prices arent cheap either, so much sandwiches and a beer for 4 of us came to 27!

I also had an issue with the beer garden which promises a lot with nice seating and a live aviary. However, what really ruins it, is bang in the middle of the outside area is a covered pagoda with enclosed sides for the smokers which gives the beer garden a furtive atmosphere. Not condusive.

The Wheatsheaf Inn, Yarmouth

Not very welcoming inside - very canteen like inside with food, although nice and reasonably priced, was not well presented. Great selection of beers though with Fuggle-me-do being the star with friendly and accommodating, if a little brow beaten, staff. However it is the only pub in Yarmouth with a TV for sports which is OK as long as no-one is playing pool then it's an issue for anyone that wants to get in the pub as they need to squeeze past them first. They also seem keen on getting you through quickly once you've eaten. We stood our ground and continued to watch the rest of the Grand Prix - go on, Button!!!

The Kings Head, Yarmouth

Popped in for lunch here today before our ferry ride. Top notch! Holy Joe is a wonderful session ale that matched the honest selection of pub food available. Food was reasonably priced and good quality with good sides (salad and chips) served with all sandwiches. They also do Old Rosie Scrumpy Cider on tap. Very comfy with a small outside and friendly and welcoming staff. Recommended while in Yarmouth and 10/10 while waiting for the ferry.
