Dewdrop Inn, Eastbourne

In terms of the few negative reviews, let me say this, this pub is the most welcoming pub this side of the Buddhist tent at Glastonbury festival. As it is so welcoming there is a grand variety of people who regularly frequent this establishment. The downside of this is that some of the people are unfortunately judgmental (see review below and the odd comment about "mature students" who are "ignorant," bitter?). Treat the staff with respect and a smile and they will provide for you a great menu (recently expanded), fantastic drinks (with guest ales, no Harvey's ever despite other reviews), comfy chairs/sofas, log fires in winter, a great garden in summer but most importantly that famous welcome.
Weekends see bands/deejays playing anything from metal to Regga even Pink Floyd to Nero. The pub is open until 1am Friday and Saturday and 12pm Sunday to Thursday.
For those who know, this is a Green King pub that rarely, if ever, actually serves Green King. The ales change regularly and are well kept.
For the ubiquitous doubters amongst you, no, I do not work here but I am a regular. We are not loud we are friendly and you are very very welcome.
